Them navara's are probably the juiciest 4x4 on the market, i quite like them, would have one over an L200 obviously once ive won the lottery and bought all the classics etc

Ok bit stumped tonight, after the old girl has stood for nearly 2 months as it had a fault and wouldn't start got in and started first time Suspect  I'm guessing the fault will rear its ugly head when I get round to taking it for a test drive, I hate intermittent faults Evil or Very Mad

At the time it broke down I had just started to focus back on getting the pulsar up and running, plus the fact the crap weather kept me away.

Right well decided to give the other jap crap some attention recently; charged batteries, cleaned earths, removed loose messy spotlight wiring left by previous owner and repaired what I think is a VAC line on the auto box. Took it for a spin tonight and it ran faultlessly Rolling Eyes  Quite shocked at the amount of soot out the back on kickdown Shocked Very Happy
See how long it runs before the gremlins return...

I'm not sure, I wonder if it had moisture somewhere and with all the hot weather it dried out or it has an intermittent fault with a safety switch on the auto box? I've got full breakdown cover so if it does it again I'll get them out to have a look. I have missed driving it Very Happy

Yeah it was a right bodge. Makes you wonder what else I may find affraid
Ive located a wiring diagram on the hilux oc so may help me find the problem, just need to find time to look at it as its stuck down my field where I keep my horse.
That's possible bob, hopefully the wiring diagram will tell me

After looking at it more today discovered that they had tapped into the wire for the bulb that illuminates the gear position.

Still not having much luck, had it recovered back to my house and have been studying a wiring diagram but think its not correct as I can't match wire colours? Hopefully someone on the oc will get back to me.

So no clearer on to whats up with it Rolling Eyes   ......so the fog lamp was just tapped into the lighting circuit in some ways .....  did the recovery not give you any clues then mate ?

No the guy that come out checked fuses and battery connections and that's about all he could do. As it doesn't have obd port couldn't plug it into machine. I've heard from someone on oc that its likely to be starter contacts so I'll whip that off and get it checked. I wonder if I have unknowingly cured the cutting out issue when I cleaned earths and battery terminals?

Just over 2 months ago it cut out but I managed to start it and it make it back home and it sat there since. I tried it on the off chance the other week and it started fine. Tried it a week later and the batteries had gone flat. Took them off, cleaned post/terminals and charged them. While I was at it cleaned up all the earth's I could see in the engine bay. Put batteries back on and again started fine. Must of started it 5 or 6 times with no fault. Took it for a run round my area and came back with no issues. Went out Wednesday, started fine, stopped at the village shop en route to my stables, again started fine. Got to my field parked up then when I went to leave that night nothing Evil or Very Mad
