Its not over heating checked oil and dipstick nothing in that .... so think il just change the oil cooler for a new one .... im guessing its the one behind the oil filter ...and flush the coolant out ...

It's somewhere around oil filter housing (I think underneath it ) and should two coolant pipes going to it and yes have fun getting all this crap from cooling system suicide

Not sure on price I think they were around £20 from euro and it's not bad job you just need 27mm socket looking at fotos I think I might be confusing it with diesel....
Let me have closer look and I'll try to come back with something

I've found something like this. It should have just some sort of a nut behind oil filter...

Rep point given thanks ..... i just shot outside to try have a look wich is quite hard as its lowered and cant quite see it properly ... but think i can see two pipes heading towards the gearbox so would imagine its looks like the link you posted ... tried eurocarparts but it never likes my reg and doesnt list anything but from what i seen id be expecting around 70-80 for a new one ... it was lucky as i was on the hunt for another engine today as thought i can do that up and running quicker than chuffing about with the headgasket and skimming the head ....

An easy way of getting the oil out of the cooling system is to use a couple of dishwasher tablets dissolved in hot water,  pour the solution into the cooling system,  fill with water,  bleed system,  run it up hot, drain and flush,  repeat until cleared of oily gunk, we have to do it quite often at work on the lotus's mate.

If you've got the ramp it'll be easier don't remember it fully but start with taking oil filter off and there should be 27mm nut disconnect any water hoses and that should be about it. If you haven't got the ramp you might need to take exhaust mani/cat off (or take it off anyway). Now I might be wrong cos last one I've done 3 years ago lol....

No ramp .... going to see if i can squeeze it out from gearbox side it looks really tight as i would prefer not to drop the manifold/cat off if i can help it ...looks like a fun job to get out so plenty of fucks and buggers will be thrown im sure Laughing

Astonishing! Great tip cheers

I've got an 8l Audi a3 1.8t. Luckily I've not had any problems with it. The thing just doesn't want to die.
Bought for £297.30 with 6 months tax and a parking permit in town for a year.
Replaced dipstick, maf, tie rods. Thought it's worth keeping alive just for the permit.
Still going to this day although the dog gearbox mount is shot so the drive shaft bottoms out in the box making a CV jointy noise. Fixable but really cba.
Uses 1l of oil every two months, I suspect a minor leak on the rocker and also the oil breather system is in pieces.
Last time I touched it, the whole thing fell apart Laughing had to block pipes off with those plasticky wine bottle corks. Still there king

Well started at 9:30 this morning what a c*nt to get out i had to cut the pipes off at first as the thread that holds the oil filter was stuck in the block so i couldnt get it past the manifold ... got it out to make it easier to put the new one back in ... had to take the air con pump off and belt egr valve just to slide the thing back in .... i flushed through the coolant and bleed it up so far so good going to take it out for another run see if i get any oil in the tank .... fingers crossed its looking good ... but dont want to jinx myself lol
