oh one last question to save me hunting around in the loft, are the brake pipe nuts 10mm x 1mm?

Pretty sure they are, I do know that they are the no lead type, as in they are threaded all the way.

With the the lead type they only catch a few threads, its a bit unsafe really.

Also get yourself a little pipe cutter and maybe a hole deburring tool, good clean cut is critical to a properly formed flare.
