Thought I would try and save myself some money and do the prep work myself and then get some1 to spray them.
Once I started I soon realised this wasn't going to happen lol

On a brighter note, I have rubbed down and undersealed the rear and removed some unwanted stuff !

Yeah only way to do it is cut the rust out .... i will do a how too when i do my arches ... for the welding side ... its not too difficult with a mig ... as its pretty much a beginner type thing and your only really tack welding as you cant get too much heat into the panel as it will distort it ...

How far did you get with cutting?
I've just started cutting bits off mine, I'm gonna take a go at welding the easy flat square bits behind the bumper. Anything with more shape will need body shop.

I dont know why everybody gets scared ... its only metal ... welds can be ground down .... cut the plate slightly small by 1mm all round and filler weld in tacks simple really no skill needed the only thing i reccomend is magnet holder helps keep it all in place really handy thing to have ...

As said on phone the other day Dan........it's not hard to do just check measurements with regard to height as seen one that was done poorly with one rear arch lower than the other so simple but costly mistake once painted.

As Leighton said......it's not hard!
I'm no fantastic welder by a long shot but I can and have done it before to a standard of any good bodyshop.
cut and butt / tack weld the panels together or you'll get heat distortion and warpage, then just overfill and rub down and it's the rubbing down and contouring that's the hard bit and most important bit in order to get a good finish when painted, if your not confident with doing that part then sub that bit out to someone who can do it as end job will look naff if that's not done correctly

If we were not so damned busy and you can wait a bit I would have done the job for you, or you could have done it at our place yourself and I would have guided you along the way fella!

Like any welding get similar thickness metal and have a few practis attempts get used to what setting's wires speed heat suits the thickness and your welding style on that particular type of metal best so your not getting blast's ,snots or as said above distortion of the pannel

Mig welder .... pref anything from 180 amps and above .... as the lower amp machines tend to give poorer weld so it just looks like birdshit  lol ....  the 230 en turbo is a good machine sealey mig 180 is ok also  ... look at duty cycles as the cheaper machines  tend to have lower duty cycles wich means  you cant use it for long at higher amps ... beacuase your only tack welding the panel on it doesnt require to much skill  the skill is in cutting the rust out and cutting the panel to the correct size ... before you start .... tack welding is as it sounds  you are litteraly just placing a blob of weld to fuse the old metal to the new metal  anybody can hold the trigger on the gun and count 3 seconds  then move onto the next tack   ... welds can be ground down  too so its nothing to daunting  if it is abit ropey looking ... its all in the prep really like most things .... you got any pics of your arches  now ????
