Ive had a small leak thats always been on my car coming from the general area of the oil filter. Now i cant tell exaclty where its coming from as it drips on to the drive shaft which then spreads it everywhere. The access to that area is rubbish but ive got my gearbox off at the moment and the drive shafts out which has given me some access, ive wiped it down and i still cant tell where its comin from. I take it the filter mounts into the oil pump? Can this be removed fairly easily and inspected?

Could be the filter itself if the o-ring was installed dry.

The filter housing is separate and incorporates the oil cooler, could be leaking from where it is attached to the block perhaps? Never had that bit off.

Sure it's not your rocker cover gasket and it's just working its way down?

Yeah im sure its not the filter as ive changed it a number of times and it still persists. Ill double check the rocker but its consentrated on the one side ill try get a picture but if my memory serves me right its hard to up load them on here.

Ive managed to get some ok pictures, as i look at it from underneath feet to the front. The left side of the pump is where the oil is leaking from the groved cylinder. The two hoses are fine. its where that meets housing. Does that make sense?

The grooved cylinder is the oil cooler. Dont know how it attaches to the housing but you may have a perished seal or gasket.

Not sure but its not fixed rigid its got movement init like its on a rubber mount inside so im guessing there must be gasket between them i was reluctant to wiggle it to hard ill look on the end see if there anything obvious pinning it down
