Just bought this rebuild kit today, went for the 360 instead of the 270 kit, going to do it myself as I like a challenge  Laughing

Will keep you updated with the progress, any tips or hints to help me along the way??

don't mess it up lol. you could get it spun up but I think sometimes they charge a fortune so not worth it as makes a self build a expensive build if that makes sense. was it someone on here builds turbos at work as his job ?

There is a place in blackpool that you send it to to get it balanced and they send it back think it was 50quid and a tenner for postage ...

Yeah balancing is the key
When you think how fast that bad boy spins it only has to be slightly out of true and it's kabooooom!

I did one a couple of years ago - just to see how it all worked. But after someone told me I should get it balanced I've never had the confidence to put it in a car and try it out. With Nomads info I might send it off for balance and finally put it on a car. Shocked
The most important thing is to carefully mark everything to make sure it all goes back the same way... Not just the turbine but the casing as well.

The rebuild kit is from turbo rebuilds in Blackpool.

I have marked everything up as I stripped it so it will be reassembled the same way so should still be balanced.

It isn't too hard to strip and reassemble so I think I will rebuild it and if it seems dodgy I will take it turbo rebuilds to get balanced watch this space haha!!

Well after all the advice above I decided to get it balanced up at Turbo Rebuilds in Blackpool top service and balanced it all up on Friday afternoon £50 all in.

[url=Turbo rebuild Image-12]

Spent all day rebuilding it back up had a few issues but nothing major, just put 70 miles on it this afternoon and pleased to say all good so far  cheers

Took it steady for the first 30 miles then opened her up against a merc CL 500 coming onto the motorway and all was good, I let him pass me eventually  Laughing

So we will see how long the DIY rebuild lasts now fingers crossed.

Had the following symptoms.

A bit of a weird one thought it was the turbo at first but have now narrowed it down to only happening when going around left hand (tight corners) a big cloud of blue smoke but goes away fairly quickly, does it when warm or hot but doesn't do it around right hand corners?

Stripped it down and found the rear seal was knackered.
