That sounds expensive, any additional work such as checking- runout, cracks, balancing.
I pay getting on for £200 (crack testing is a must) but mainly as trust the work of machine shop & if supply bearings & specify oil clearance range they will match it spot on. Finish of work has always been faultless so happy pay little more over the lowest cost machine shops.
i use Barum Engineering, done crank work, boring, resurfacing, valve cutting & balancing on various engines & always been good work at sensible cost.
Prices will vary but go with someone who looks capable of a good job but not charging real silly money.

there are many engineer here, but fees are huge here so price can't go down because of French governement wich put always more fees on small company....it kills the market.
And some doesn't want to do hard work and high the price too....

for exemple, when i've done some quote to make my mini wheel batch, i ask over 15 company, i got half answers from 120 pounds to 450 pounds each (5 parts needed) VAT included.
i ask one renoun engineer in the mini scene in UK, they dropped the price at 90 pounds each and less now because the software is set up....
So including the postal cost, i rather put my money in UK....true story.

some company really doesn't care about small engineering batches, even if they live with...they prefer get bigger market and don't care about others....
