But in testers defence they/we can't advise emissions
They/we can be nice and close eye a bit on some other stuff like rust  etc and just advise it but not emission It's quite stupid cos i theory you don't need wind screen lights and bumpers but you'll fail test cos split rubber boot on anti roll bar link duh

Surely rust is something you can't let go (I wouldn't) as it does not just appear overnight so if car got pulled  and was inspected your names on the ticket and they would demand to know how you passed it.

With emissions there are ways of getting that through, just requires a bit of enginuity on behalf of the tester and he may be rewarded for his efforts lol

I tried with the reward route, unfortunately the wrong tester ( tester I didn't know ) got to the car first !!!

Emmisions are on the day as you say were as rot is there for the long run so in my eyes as long as the car is safe rot free (within mot standards) then really they should let a 25 year old rally car through if they really have any love for cars (which they should bloody well have)

If its not safe dont pass but for the sake of the lesser spotted woodpecker or Polar bear they can fuck off I want power!!!

You could have hole through and if not within 30cm of any seatbelt mount suspension/subframe etc and its not sharp it's advise...
as for emission I always warm car up prior to test etc and if it's cat test I always try to get it in best rev range etc not trying to be an ass hole... But sometimes you can only do so much. Don't get me wrong I'd agree that loads of garages are just looking for cash from repairs but tbh mot test is really funny thing

Another funny example If your bumper is damaged in a way that got sharp protrusion its a fail but if you'll remove this bumper an you've got sharp bumper mount sticking out but designed this way by manufacturer that's ok duh

And yes i agree how the hell higher emissions are dangerous for road user i don't know....

how do I drop the fuel pressure? need to try everythin....gonna remove air filter just b4 test, bought an ecotek thing just b4 I read bobs post, car was hot when test was done, will check spark plugs ( wot gap pls ) and check dizzy cap. Car does pop and bang which does sound nice and naughty so is probably running too rich. Not too mechanically minded, last car I worked on was my old Mk 3 Cortina !!!! After test ( and pass ) shall book it in with Bob to get it all set up correctly and running sweet.
