mot fail on emissions

emissions only mentioned new exhaust sytem needed mapping before it went in to be told it would be ok not to worry.(wan*er)to say the least i was not happy apart from that advisory a tyre tread was gettig down and direction of light beam on nearside

Did you try advancing the timing or reducing the presure on the fpr?

Just replied thanks very much for your suggestions stu mate should of thanked you in the first post just my head is battered. Trouble is now its failed need to try somwhere else because its not getting mapped just yet. I have no way of knowing if it will pass retest

Retest is free so reduce presure on fpr and advance timing and it should pass.

was it above 3.5% co? or did he test it as a cat test?

like you say worth a try. wounder if a charcoal filter or similar would work 3.5 or 3.50 is the limit non cat mine was 4. odd nearly 5

When I first had mine it would have co figures of 3.5+ come MOT time, so I bought one of these.

When I adjusted it the co went down to 0.1% and the hydrocarbons were feck all.All it did(its not on any more) was fit on the pipe off the brake servo and create an adjustable air leak, leaning off the mixture so if you can make something up to do the same bob's your mother's brother.

It just teed into the pipe, didn't need any extra bits.When I removed it, think I just used a bit of copper pipe or summat to join it back together.

Yeah I'll be at York again soonish.Got a bosch 044 and swirl pot to be fitted, cams to be dialled in then remapped to suit.Oh and the STR motorsport gearbox brace, swap rear diff and good to go :p.
Oh and have a 3" exhaust and gt3071 and it holds boost now instead of just dropping to 0.7 bar once setting off so hoping for a tad better time.

yeah that sounds like a good bit of kit, simple but effective

other than that as stu said really, drop the fuel pressure, make sure the car is nice and hot when they retest it and maybe remove the air filter as that will also help.

My Pulsar has just failed on emissions, CO was 5.532% but should be below 3.5%.

Don't think that will work in your case Paul as emissions are too high.

Do the basic bits first like check your ignition system to make sure you have best possible spark and burn rate in cylinders
Those checks include 
Spark plugs and gaps
Dizzy cap and rotor
Kv's on ign leads
Ignition amp module and coil
Ignition timing check

All the above will cause overly rich running
Then don't forget simple things first such as a dirty or partially blocked air filter and boost /vacuum leaks

Present company excluded obviously ..... you would think the tester would just see you turn up in the car .... and go poor barstard the pain he must go through and go write the certificate straight out there and then ...
