I've seen a few pictures of snapped rota wheels but I'm sure then were given some serious abuse to break like that

ive seen a few smashed oz and bbs alloys and people are still using them cant imagine rota alloys are poorer quality

As above I think you would have to abuse them to cause a total failure, cracks happen on alloy wheels but are not necessarily catastrophic.

In my accident 2 of my oz wheels smashed the kerb, perhaps about 40mph, I imagine they are buckled and the stud holes were elongated because they had no spigot rings (unknown to me), but no failures.

That being said...get some compomotives...

There are reports that wheels can fail if they have been powder coated as the temperature that they are baked at and the length of time they are baked for is enough to anneal the alloy and soften it, there have been quite a few OZ's failing on evo's after powder coating so maybe the same thing is happening with the Rota's?, as said above you have to really abuse an alloy wheel to get it to fail.

do you know what kind of temperature can change metal properties???
they cook the paint at 200°c, i don't think the length of the cooking and the low temperature used change the metal properties....wich need to be around 450° to change alloy properties....
melting point is more than 600°

I don't know what temperatures are involved Fred, I didn't mean the paint finish from factory or from a bodyshop, I meant powder coating, it's only what I've read but there seems to be quite a few cases, maybe the design of the wheel e.g. spoke thickness, material type and quality have an influence on it?. It would make sense that thin spokes on a multi-spoke wheel would heat up quicker than a big fat spoke though.
