Better than a no but if he out to rip you off he will claim through paypal direct or via ebay resolution. obviously for refund he will need return it & have proof you receive it & that will cost.
Only real negative is you gonna get negative feedback & I doubt you will get it lifted, just stating no returns/refund means nothing as if they want it they will get it as that is inbuilt into ebay T&C.
With stuff that faulty/marked etc you need to be 100% factual in you description then hope get a decent buyer...
Personally I avoid eBay & PayPal as it a pile of shite full stop, full of faulty tat & illegal import of fake & non licenced/tested tat from china ...

How can I accept it back though is he has broken it? He says he got a subaru specialist to fit it but a Subaru specialist is not a qualified HKS specialist or electrician so he could very well have broken it.

It's like selling him con rod and him saying he had a qualified washing machine repair man to fit it lol it don't mean shit.

If it was just faulty I would happily refund it but he has actually broken it, it's actually fried inside according to him wich is not the condition I sent it in.

For all I know he has bought it to replace a broken unit he already has and is now trying send me the dodgey one back in its place.

Well we will see but I will contest it if eBay rules in his favour because if they rule in his favour eBay is the only place I know of we're you can buy a used electrical item with a no returns policy, wire it up backwards and fry it and then get your money back.

Bare in mind I sold him this item over 30 days ago!

eBay is not all bad, I have bought and sold thousands of pounds worth of vintage audio equipment some of which dates as far back as the 1950s and I have never had a problem with buyers or sellers.

Cars and car parts on the other hand is just full of arseholes trying to scam you. I'll think twice about selling on eBay again but at the moment that's one of the only ways I make my money!

Think they get 45 days for paypal claim based on item not as described or not received. as international buyer it could vary as PayPal rules differ in various parts of the world.
You maybe lucky but it comes down to what they put claim for as obviously you don't have warranty but if the claim is for item not as described then you will get a headache & PayPal & eBay tend to favour the buyer unless he really stupid & no minor faults can be bought up on your listing to back his claim.
Hope it works out for you but having not seen listing hard to know how could turn out. Try the calm response as bob recommended & hope he happy enough to sort it himself or write it off as scrap ! :-/

how did you post to italy?postal insurance should cover the damage
As a seller you can not leave negative feedback, the option does not exist ...

Well either way it's not a big amount but it's just a headache I could do without. I can't use my PayPal now because of my negative balance  Rolling Eyes

I suppose it's a lesson learned, maybe I should just do collection only in the future that way I can show it working when the collect

Well eBay have ruled in the buyers favour! I'm not happy to say the least!

I'm not sure what happens now because it says he hast to send it back to me and when the tracking details indicate I have received it they will take the money from my account. I'm guessing that I will be forced to pay for the postage aswell.

It's pretty disgusting when you look at the facts.
He has purchased a used electronic item that was described as functioning working but not 100% tested due to not having all of its components present, he has had it installed by a third party and god knows what solenoid and wiring he attempted to use with it and it's now completely burned out inside which is not the condition I sent it in. He has opened a case on the grounds that 'the item is not as described' but it was until he broke it! And eBay is demanding I offer a refund even though my returns policy clearly stated that I will not accept returns.

What the hell is all that about? Does that mean every time I brake something I buy I can demand my money back?

I'm struggling to fight ebays decision because I have done it all on my iPad and I'm very limited as to what I can do and I do not have a proper computer so I'm stuck with the shitty app.

Really not happy about this at all  Evil or Very Mad

Contact your bank and get them to block PayPal then tell eBay to go fuck themselves

A lot of eBay rules are not legal under various consumer laws
The fact you said the item was untested and incomplete would rule in your favor especially if it was listed in spares or repairs

Well that's one thing that wouldn't go in my favour because I listed it as used, perhaps i should of listed it as spares but it was working so I thought it would be ok.

The seller contacted me before placing a bid asking if I could confirm it was working and I said as far as I can tell its working as it should be, it powers up ok and all the functions seem to work but as I do not have the solenoid or wiring I cannot guarantee that it is functioning 100%
It certainly wasn't fried inside as he claims it is now, if it was in the condition that I sent it out to him I would of happily given him a refund but it's now been burned out inside wich says to me that it's been wired up wrong. How can I accept it back now

As I said before no such thing as no returns, if you read eBay/PayPal T&C you will see that.
Was this an overseas sale ?
He will have to pay return fee & if no tracking details work perhaps you never get it ;-) & then PayPal will reimburse you
It far too easy for people to rip off the seller but best way to protect yourself is by being 110% factual on what you sell, your controller was useless/incomplete without a solenoid & unless that fully stated you can get seriously buggered by PayPal claims :-S
Your best initial step is perhaps again stating to eBay it was sent out functional & not burnt out & then when falls on deaf ears accepting return & giving him return address via the dispute message options politely :-) I would also state you require item back in same condition it sent out in just so there as evidence of you not admitting guilt & maybe useful later !
If he cheaps on shipping you could claim you never received it back, if that no go you can send pics to PayPal if has serious signs of tampering damage & hope they reimburse you but best way is you never receiving item back ;-)

Thans for the advice mate, it's a bloody nightmare all this eBay PayPal crap!

I wish I would of just offered it for free to one of the lads on the forum but I thought It would help raise a couple of quid to put towards omething for the car  Rolling Eyes

If I ever list anything again I'm going to be making sure I write a huge list of terms and conditions at the bottom as to cover my back in situations like this

Waste of time as most things you write will be over ruled by eBay/PayPal T&C.
By writing & making a big deal on no returns you actually make yourself look dodgy thus support the buyers complaint.
Best thing is perfect description of goods & send everything recorded mail.
If international sale highly likely return tracking will be issue :-D , if uk & he smart enough to send back recorded signed for then your only hope is item seriously fooked so much so photos of returned item compared to images prior to shipping carry good weight & hope PayPal decide cover both parties loss but I doubt they will.

Well it was a bit unconventional because the buyer was from America but specified that he wanted it sending to an address in London so I have no idea were he will be returning it from.

To be honest the buyer has been orkward from day one and asking me to send it to a different address to the one specified on his eBay it should of sent alarm bells ringing!

I have been really patient with the buyer and I didn't even charge him for the jiffy bag I sent it in just the cost of postage, sometimes being kind and patient does not pay off!

See what happens, if you don't get it back - no return shipping tracking to prove it returned then PayPal will eventually credit u the funds.
Got to be careful changing adress as if you ship to any other address than the payment/eBay stated address you also open to being fooked by scammers who then claim you sent wrong address & when open dispute with PayPal wham bam u fooked again ... worthwile thing adding on listings is stipulation of only posting to verified addresses, any decent buyer will simply add an address correctly to there paypal & ebay accounts & choose required one when buying, scammers & general c*nts will email you a required shipping address then do a dispute so be careful .

Looking back on it I have been a little naive with this eBay selling lark, I wasn't expecting this to happen and I should of seen it coming really.

Same here mate, like I said I wish I'd of just given it one of the lads on here, I'm sure someone will be running an HKS EVC IV and would of appreciated a spare. I would rather wipe my arse with the money than give it some piss taking idiot.

I wish it was still like the good old days were I could of just driven to his address just to fill him in lol I would be willing to drive to London and back which would cost a damn sight more and then make him eat the controller but that doesn't get you anywhere now days. Im not a violent person and im only small but nobody likes being hit were it hurts, in my case my wallet lol. You should never mess with a mans finances, it's like creeping into the cave of a sleeping lion and tickling its love spuds with a hot branding iron, not a good idea  Evil or Very Mad lol

Just see how it plays out, if no tracking on return you laughing, if continuously unable to deliver it goes back to sender & then further PayPal intervention, which can result in bans of accounts in your name & known addresses so be careful if you want/need keep accounts active.
If obviously dismantled, damaged or different unit then kick up a stink but they play a hard game to the seller so you will have a struggle.
Most people scamming would claim goods not received if not recorded as no hassle or expense of return, so if you sent standard parcel my guess is he unhappy with it or fried it due to his stupidity or a unknown fault :-/
With a bit of luck on no return or no tracking the Lion will be roaring with laughter ...
