So this weekend was going to be the weekend after a few set backs with the gearbox last weekend.  Worked all day Saturday and everything was ready minus the fluids

So Sunday started looking like this

ongoing build - Page 7 IMAG0573

So filled and bled the clutch, filled up the oil and anti freeze and the car was ready to be primmed....or so I thought.

Ended the day like this
ongoing build - Page 7 IMAG0576

Major fuel leak and had to drop the tank, sub frrame etc... So still not been able to start the engine yet, but so far it's cranked over and held oil pressure (no plugs, ht leads or fuel pump connected

Good to be making progress. Not good about the fuel leak though. I'm sure it will all be done before you know it Smile

Have you found the cause of the leak Mark?

Yeah mate the fuel hose I used when I replaced it 2yrs ago has completely perished, so dropped the tank and replaced every hose (so be careful when Buying fuel hose)

Tonight I've managed to get the tank back in and everything back on bar the front arb so tomorrow should be good to actually get back on the road

Primed the engine and gave it a crank over and boom on the button it starts up, top end sounds so quiet and so far so good, so going a bed a happy bunny and looking forward to getting it on the road tomorrow evening

It said it was when I bought it Bob but with the way it's perished now I've removed braid over the top it clearly wasn't.

Yeah gaz it was cant remember where from exactly but be careful and only but from reputable companies.

Well after a shit day at work I didn't get home early enough to get it finished off and running, was so pissed off and going to have a bitch at my boss tomorrow, but tomorrow night is the night....unless something else happens lol

Well got home tonight And finally got the old girl running up to temperature while in the air to check for any leaks. Waited for the fans to kick in and bled the system as best I could. Lowered the car to the floor , checked all fluids for a final time and got all ready for my first drive since last June......

Fired up got in the driver's seat, adjusted me mirror smiling like a big kid at Christmas, went for first gear...... Only to find it wouldnt bloody go into gear, actually, I couldn't get any gear... Fuck!!!

All sorts of thoughts went through my mind, clutch/bearing/pivot/selector fork. Pumped the pedal furiously and eventually got 4th gear, so relaxed a little bit in the hope it just needed another bleed.

After a good bled it was selecting gears but wasn't fantastic (which in fairness I've complained for a while about horrible pedal and assumed it was just my pedal clutch). We then adjusted the rod for the master cylinder as it was full adjusted, once wound out this raised my pedal and the clutch now feels and acts like it should, which I'm chuffed about, as ive hated driving the car recently..until now.

Missed my mot but rebooked for tomorrow and I'm now enjoying life as an R owner again

Needs a good clean and detail and the bonnet has gone all milky, so might have to get this painted if a wet sand/da doesn't work

So 20 miles in and I've been reminded why I still own this car, not even come on boost yet And loving it.

Passed the mot with just an advisory on the horn not working, which I'm not sure why and also the Speedo isn't working (flicked on for 3 seconds today), wonder if I've paint over an earth point and its not contacting

Not wrong there mate any later and I dont know what I would be coming in, so long as the running in goes well the pulsar should be coming the ring

I'm now over 500 miles in and going well, dropped the fluids over the weekend and no major lumps in the oil to worry about.

Had new track rods end and drop links fittedand had the tracking done. Alone with 4 new Bridgestone potenzas

Also had a crack at the milky carbon bonnet with a da and medium cutting compound.
