Cheers Fred.

Thanks bob, just charging up the cameras so will hopefully get some good footage.

Well what a day it has been today but long story short the car passed it's mot although I may have been 45 minutes late as I wasn't quite finished.  Turned up with the car in a right start as didn't have time to wash it and you see the guys face drop and know he's thinking we've got a right shitter here.  He was pleasantly surprised when he see the underneath.  Have to play around with the exhaust as it's blowing slightly but otherwise all good for track

Well we made it to brands but I still had a bit of work todo on the old girl before going out, so the first hour she sat like this

ongoing build - Page 5 IMAG1000

Had to adjust the exhaust, re-fit the arb and a few other bits.

Old vs new. Picked up an adjustable whiteline arb from bob and had it powder coated

With le Mans fast approaching I need to give the car a good once over and the turbo has begun to whine a little when it begins to boost up so thought it best to have it off for a rebuild (still standard turns)

Small crack near the wastegate
ongoing build - Page 5 IMAG1171

Slightly worn blades but no marking on housing and 2mm play back and forth so all pretty healthy
ongoing build - Page 5 IMAG1172

Plans for now are to have it refreshed and more than likely go hybrid.

replace all gaskets.
New actuator
Full service (plugs leads cap Rota oils)
Fit new turbo elbow
Fit my. Bride bucket seat

So should keep me busy

So few issues with having the turbo built but for 23 years of age and a load of abuse it wasn't too sad. The exhaust housing was cracked worse than first thought so had the housing replaced, shaft had worn slightly too much so was replaced, the blades were showing signs of wear so had the wheel replaced with a large shiney billet wheel. I also went for a 360 bearing and new actuator set at 1 bar, so now all shiney and new and cannot wait to test it around spa

I used Bernie blowers, came highly reccommended. Man of few words but he's built turbos for several of my friends and he's been great the whole way through. Also returns all the old bits and shows you what he's done

How much did it cost for rebuild if you don't mind me asking would love to see if there's any difference between the billet wheel compared to standard once you got it all fitted

I paid 500 for the lot, bigger billet wheel was 100 pound.

He said a standard rebuild is usually around the 250 area, but with all the extras I went for it soon built up.

Well after a little wait I log into dpd and discover my elbow is arriving today, so like a big kid a rush home from work and after a bit of faffing with an angle grinder making an Allen key fit it is on. Right now to go fit on the car

All was going well until I realised the actuator wasn't at the correct angle and wouldn't clear the block, so need to get it back into Bernies. Just one thing after a bloody other
