It's a bit tricky to diagnose idle quality : your cams have been moved , we don't know where , this can effect the idle vacuum - that is the amount of air that the engine pulls in to run at idle .
Also you map has been set for your injectors (larger)at that idle vacuum and maybe even with a vacuum leak on top (split hose )
You really need a good tuner to find out where you are currently and start from scratch and make adjustments as necessary : throttle cable , cold start values , idle targets , vacuum , fuel pressure etc

Was running okay for some time after the cam sprockets/tune and this issue developed after turbo failure.
Could be worth looking at idle assembly incase turbo debris or general old age affecting it . Also lambda worth checking if using one .

Had the idle assembly out and stripped a couple weeks ago and all was fine. The idle adjustment screw is that chewed up and fucked I can't turn it to adjust to see if that helps!

So...looks like I've cured the idle issue....any one want to take a guess at what was causing it? ( it wasn't any of the parts I've replaced that I listed above)....

For what ever reason the idle screw was screwed all the way in, it was all mashed up but managed to get a sharp screw driver in and turn it out....and hey presto it suddlenly started idling like a brand new un'

Kind of makes sense as with air leaks it likely revving high so someone at some point counteracted it by winding in that idle screw .
I seen similar on a car with a split diaphragm recirc valve and idle had been restored by winding screw in all way, took me quite some time after fitting a new external valve to figure that out though lol.
well done for chasing it down, should be looking good for next mapping session, fingers crossed for pleasing results ... persistence will payoff bounce

this has got to be the only R ever made to have an idle issue resolved by turning the idle screw  Shocked

We didn't look at it and think ' let's try that' but as we tried it was that chewed up and fucked we couldn't turn it, had to get a screwdriver on the grinder and get it very sharp and hammer it in to the plastic screw to get it to turn, only just managed to turn it

Pipes missing.
The large ones on the side.
So was a mass of un metered air.
