Hi need a little advice if possible, when i start my car from cold i hear a rattling for a few seconds, its like it rattles till the oil starts flowing then stops. Anyone have any advice? car still runs great but dont want something blowing up before i can sort it. oil level is fine and pressure is good when cold

Thanks in advance

is it hard to change on the r? thinking its probably an engine out job?, however i also think my oil pump may have a slight leak, as im dripping a little oil from somewhere that aint the sump so maybe best to just rip the engine out and replace the chain and oil pump?

How long do you have the car sat for at a time? If its a couple of days mine dous the same thing for about 2-3 seconds. I but it down to the oil has all ran back into the sump within 2-3 days of being stood & theres no oil around the engine. So i always take the coil lead off & crank it over before i start it to get oil round the engine. But if your starting it regularly then it may be a different issue.

usually all night the car is left but sometimes it doesnt move for a few days to a week. never moves at the weekend, ill monitor it after work and see if its still the same, as i say only does it for a few seconds then its fine, always let it run for a while before driving to make sure the oil is circulating

Probably just a case of oil running back into sump whilst its been stood, so prob just rockers etc waiting to recieve oil which will take 2-3 secs, so keep an eye o it & just tske coil lead of & crank it over for a few seconds if its been stood a few days, thats all i do

no oil lights, goes off as soon as it starts, oil pressure is good when starting cold, shoots up to really high

Put a genuine Nissan oil filter on the car....sounds very much like the top end is rattling because the cams and lifter have no oil from it draining back to the sump as the oil filter does not have a non return valve.

Mine doesnt rattle and it can sit for over a week. I use the blueprint oil filter as well but as said try genuine and see if that cures it. What oil are you using?

im using the fuchs dog bollocks stuff 10w50 esther i think, i havent changed the filter when i done a service so its been delayed so it may be the problem. ill try the filter and see as its not much of a bother.

i started the car after work and it wasnt rattling so only does it overnight.
