Is there ment to b a gasket on timing chain tensioner mines got a small leak

There is both.
The 'O'ring is around the body of the tensioner, 20mm from the mounting plate. The mounting plate has a gasket.

Mine as a thin metal gasket can I use silicon to help stop oil leak
