Well I don't know if it's standard for sure but most gearboxes are 20+ years old now and have taken a lot of abuse over the years so will be knackered depending how the car was driven. I had a rebuilt box by sanspeed years ago and abused it every day, a lot of launching and it never gave me any agro but the car was only 330 hp, had the box on there about 3 years I think

Cant remember exactly Pete, but I think they were just less than £300, I think that included postage. To be honest, I just paid the money and tried to forget about how expensive they are!!!

Well it turns out quaife gears are specific to quaife shafts! So that's that! The gears are being sent of to be shot peened and then it will be built back up again and I will see how it goes! If I blow this one up then I will have no choice but to buy a new gear set! Oh well, what's £2675 between friends Crying or Very sad

Yes I also thought some people only change a few of the gears, although I am no expert so would be interesting to see! although Quaife are probably not going to admit that their gears will fit the stock shaft as that would open the gates for people buying single gears.

When I spoke to the guy at quaife he said the splines are different, there was no point in me not saying anything then ending up paying £300 for a cog I can't use, let's see what happens with the box once it's done, n like I say if the worst comes to the worst I'll have to put my hands in my pockets....really...really....really deeply

Apparently the original shaft isn't good enough and ppg only use needle bearings,he said that they don't do stuff for gtir now as it didn't sell so guess that's that. Lol

PAR still do 2 kits I believe, straight cut syncro or dog.
the revised design straightcut syncro kit was good product/value, not sure on current pricing etc as they doing a new website currently.
PAR facebook > https://www.facebook.com/precision.automation.and.robotics
Importing to europe also adds to the cost closing or exceeding the quaife.

The PAR straight cut set costs around 2500 Euro for gear 1-4. (without extra's)

Properly cheaper to buy it in Poland then to buy it in the US (shipping / import duties):
