hurry up and get the cost of the repair together as the guy may change his mind and just do it through insureance and say it was your fault and not his.
do you have any witnesses as that will help.
i very much doubt the bloke will pay anymore than £400 unless he has got either something to hide ie not insured or shouldnt be driving.
lots to think about but good luck anyway.

I'd phone your insurance and report it. .

Coz if he starts saying it never happened next week you'll be screwed . Coz when you try and report it they will say if it happened you should have reported it at the time

Technically no as if you decide sort it yourself or other party sorts it directly with cash then you don't need to submit case further. If you do report it stipulate you reporting it but still in debate on submitting details/claim. If you have free legal cover & a phone number it maybe wise use to use it.
Problem is it may still affect premiums as the computers may still tag you for fact you been in an accident & your risk is evaluated higher.
You want read your policy too as they have time frames on reporting accidents before not covering you & that could be as little as 48hrs from accident & this needs to be considered for the other chaps policy too.
Personally I would of checked car for rad, intercooler & other damage behind light & if ok would of called the guy with price around £600 ideally to be safe.
If you got damaged intercooler or few other bits damaged broken you may be best just going insurance & hope you can claim enough personal damages to over balance any premium hike.
If the guy ain't happy with your price then it down to insurance but without witnesses it can be tricky unless he super honest.
All needs to be done quick though.

ring the guy sooner rather than later and tell him its gonna be roughly £600 ish.
if he moans about it then tell him youve got no choice but to do it through your insureance as he wont foot the bill.
if he will pay then get the money up front before you do anything.
good luck whichever way it goes.

even though we have 4wd it wouldnt hurt to have a spare shit rims with snow tyres on as the difference in the snow is unbelievable.
the rubber on normal road tyres starts to go hard below 6 degrees so no heat it tyre means no grip.
snow tyres are made of a duel compound which doesnt go off so to speak which is one of the reasons they are so good.
just because we have 4wd dont get over confident in the snow.

Now i might sound young and daft here but i find my R pritty crap in the snow unless i get all 4 wheels spinning but then you need to stop. The abs on my p reg almera gti was unreal in the snow even at 60 mph would stop no prob in no time and which ever way you turned you went.It would drive anywhere stop on a hill and pull away even in very deep snow

The 4wd may help you keep moving but those with very stiff suspension & more summer tyres will suffer.
I thought GTiR seemed okay but then after doing some serious snow in a Forester with quite new Hankook optimo 4S I experienced far far better grip, stability & braking control.
I almost killed my mazda 323 B6T on snow/ice, done a 360 on a bend & haded towards a stone wall, fortunately snow on the shoulder of the road helped stop the car.
Need take a lot of care in the snow/ice so be careful or keep your R wrapped up warm at home.

Sorry the r has taken a knock Bill, if you need someone to repair it and the bumper i know of a body shop who will do it, they don't do accident repair work, just custom and specialist stuff, their work is top notch, google paint wrx in Daventry, give them a call and ask for Ollie, top bloke and as said top notch show winning work

What you need to do bill is report the accident to the police stating he admitted fault and no one was hurt. I know it's an offence not to report any accident to the police as I've had this done to me. Your insurance will not be informed and you have proof the accident actually happened. I'd be almost 100% sure your rad and cooler are fine as it's not lost water and the wideband is reading normal. Then as soon as you have rung the police ring him and tell him you have had to report it by law and they may get in touch with him but it's better for him to also ring and tell them first. Also tell him it will be around £600 because of the body kit and check his reaction. If he's ok ask him when you can pick up the cash so you can get the job started.
