No don't put it back Paul it's nothing but a nightmare and you can't get to any of the sensors either with that monstrosity fitted

The manifold does not need that to support it and I would say 90% of them on people's cars were removed and binned so like the bastad bolt bin it for your own sanity lol

Leighton beat me to it haha

Good chance already missing as box been off at least once.
The main bastard bolt is one that has restricted access to head due to speed sensor being in way & sensor not easily removed as seize in hole.
You can refit it but cutting thread a bit shorter & adding bit of copper slip makes future removal no hassle.

No I'm in the middle of having the drive block paved so I can't get to my garage yet but then we're on it. Think I'll just take the engine out as I've done that a couple of times and I have an engine lift

either way is easy.
Personally just for clutch I drop box with engine in situ . very easy & use engine crane on gearbox makes it light work .

I am tempted as it's not something I've done before always just taken engine out

Not a lot between them but once done both you will find just doing box off quicker than engine out & as bills car will have the y bracket & probably bastard bolt/bolts missing it should be an easy one with luck :-S
Obviously if other jobs & not just clutch to do then engine out could be best.
A lot depends on working environment too but may seem more fiddly simply as not done that way before but worth learning .

Environment couldn't be better, garage is at 20 degrees all the time and we have all the tools needed so I will give box removal a try

How's the driveway coming on Darren? I've seen all the diggers and stuff outside your house when I've drove past.
I need to remember to do that DET sensor when we have the box off because that should be nice and easy when everythings out of the way, I keep forgetting it needs doing though so I'll have to make sure I don't forget it lol
