most glanzas are logged at 1.3 non turbo's hense how young drivers have them, and they are fricken quick little things

I think my pulsar says on the logbook

Make: Nissan
model: Unknown

When got a quote on comparison sites loads of different possible models came up like silvia and primera etc and I could of selected one of those instead and it was cheaper.

When I insured it with Adrian Flux I told them the make and model etc so I suppose I could of said anything Nissan that was manufactured in 1991 but I'm sure I gave them the chasis vin number so if the were to check into it they would realise what it was.
Also as said before if you have any form of bump with anyone (which is almost inevitable) your going to be in trouble, or if a clued up copper realises the car isn't what it's coming up as, ie a non turbo when he can hear the car boosting and the dump valve blowing off Laughing

I have been very tempted to lie on my insurance in the past but I have always decided its best to fully legitimate then you have no worries from the police other than keeping an eye out when you put your foot down.

I think it just depends who dealt with it at the DVLA, obviously there was no box to tick for pulsar GTIR so the just did whatever they wanted, some tried to find the closest match and some just couldn't be bothered and ended up leaving it as Nissan unknown, I think my logbook says twin axel rigid body too.

I wonder what would happen if you had an accident in yours if you insured it as a sunny GTI? Because you are not lieing as that's what it says on the log book, you could just say I don't know much about cars and that's what the logbook says so that's what I insured it as lol

Problem is ignorance doesn't automatically excuse you from a conviction, if you had the time & money & good lawyer you may be able pass the blame on to the DVLA for less than a best effort in the documentation & if you fed all required details including a chassis number to the insurer then they too could be accused of not assessing the details as well as they should but it would be a frigging headache & a fooking site more expensive & far far more hassle than spending a few evenings sorting a good quote on genuine vehicle status.
You would be best actually robbing local shops/warehouses & use your loot to pay the car insurance if you really in a financial hole as you will get much more lenient sentencing for that sort of thing if got caught than you would for Insurance fraud plus in most instances it wouldn't effect future insurance price or risk of loosing your licence ;-)
Problem in UK is traffic violations have become so easy with police actually quite skilled in milking you for just about any petty thing & it easily processed through the courts, when it comes to theft etc it bit more expensive in manpower & many prosecutions have less than solid evidence so the courts get a headache too & thus majority never get caught & police do a real shit job on a whole of pulling in the details & following through on a small robbery/theft cases so any halfwit can pretty much rob & steal with little need look over their shoulder, while in your car you need eyes in back of your head & the most up to date GPS speed trap data just to keep you out of court & make to your destination without handcuffs lol :-)

It maybe the comprimise you was after mate although it will still leave you in the same boat if you end up doing a conversion as the floor pans are different and no prop tunnel will leave you only being able to do a fwd conversion...

You could always buy a Rasheen...  Embarassed

Insure it with the 1.5 engine it comes with, then drop in the 'R' lump, and you've got the 4 wheel drive already build in....  Smile

i doubt any insurance company will look at anyone wanting one of these for a first car, too much risk for insurers
