Not too sure about sending money outside of UK. The bank charge like £35 to make this chaps- domestic payment. I will look online to see if it can be sent (i.e payments outside of UK) for free.
If not, to pay an inital deposit of £25 and get charge £35 will be pointless.

Please let me know if paypal is a 100% no no.
If not we should all paypal one person in the uk and they send it all to you in one go.

yep think most people would rather do paypal bogdan, as said bank charges can be high especially from a business account, and payments are secure!

Hi Bogdan,

I'll hang on until you get the Paypal account sorted, but once that is done I'll still send you the full costs for both elbows.

Many thanks yet again,
Dave

Dave,

This is what you need.....http://www.dtsturbo.com.au/95263/Exhaust-Dump-Pipe-EGT-Adaptor-M18x1.5-TO-1_or_4-BSPF/pd.php

This will not be threaded ....it will be welded to the elbow.

@BOB....PM received!

Many many thanks!

B

Hi Bogdan,

I don't fully understand. Will my elbows come with a standard bung welded on for the narrowband lambda sensor? And will the elbows also have a 1/8 NPT bung welded on to accommodate my temperature sensor? Or are you saying that you will add 2 identical bungs and I have to source adaptors to fit the 1/8 NPT sensor? I don't really want to have to source additional adaptors as this will add to the total price. Can you not find a 1/8 NPT bung to use?

Cheers,
Dave

Dave,
Elbows will have the standard threaded bung for the lambda in which you will screw a bung simmilar to the one from the cast elbow....which will have either 12 or 18..... at individual requesr!
Yours will have these and an extra bung for the temp sensor.....but please be more specific as over here we are using metric. Please provide me the correct dimensions or tech drawing or make a sketch and send it to me.

Chaps....

As I am new to Paypal please explain if I will have access to the money in advance which everyone will send it over to me.

You set up a PayPal account.
You decide as a personal or business user.
Think they charge more for business users.

It takes a few days to set up as they need to verify your account. Either by calling/text, and sending 2 small amounts into your account.
Once you confirm the amounts they get back to you and activate your account.

Your PayPal account will be linked to your bank account.
Usually it takes instant, 2-7 working days to recieve funds into your account, depending on what type of PayPal user you are.

However you can see the money on your PayPal account as soon as someone sends the money to you, once you provide your paypal email address to them.

You can accept payment as a gift, no fee apply for this.
Or accept payment for goods and services, fees apply most times to withdraw these funds.

Once your PayPal account is set up you give the payer your PayPal email address and specify how you want to revive payment, as a gift or for services, goods.

Simple as that, if anyone has a more advanced PayPal account and wants to expand on what I have said, in case I have made errors, please do so.

Hi Bogdan,

The bung I need welded to the elbow is identical to this:

1/8 NPT STEEL BUNG

The thread is 1/8 NPT, and the height of the bung is about 20-25mm. I know NPT threads are "old school", but unfortunately almost every aftermarket sensor has an NPT thread. My exhaust temperature sensor has a 1/8NPT thread and is 38mm in length:

EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSOR

So if you were able to weld the above bung onto the elbow, then the temperature probe would protrude into the exhaust flow by approximately 15mm (38mm length - 23mm bung height) and give more reliable readings. Obviously the bung would need to be welded at a point where the OE narrowband lambda probe and exhaust temperature sensor will not come into contact once screwed into the elbow! Also the new bung position would need to be judged so the sensor won't come into contact with other engine components (I haven't seen the elbow connected to a car yet, but I'm sure you can find a spot on the elbow which will be fine for an additional bung).

Hope this helps, but let me know if you need any other information.
Cheers,
Dave

Also, what is the "typical" GTiR narrowband lambda size? I don't have access to my car at the minute so can't measure it. Are most GTiR OE lambda probes 12mm or 18mm?

Brilliant Bob, thanks! I'll just stick with the standard 12mm bung then as I don't want my wideband sensor that close to the turbine..................

Dave

no that's why im leaving mine as is because it needs to be at least 2ft away as you well know dave
I was thinking of getting a boss put in for egt sensor but tbh it would be much better fitted pre turbo to the manifold itself

Yep, I've got an EGT sensor in the main manifold too. If I remember correctly its on the hot header which may be cylinder 1 or 4? scratch Anyway, I'm curious because the difference between the pre- and post-turbo temperatures should be an indication of how efficient the system is at converting exhaust energy into boost. Just an experiment I'm planning on doing to see how the temperature drop varies at different boost levels (and hence different efficiencies on the turbo response maps). Overkill I know, but as you know I like plotting graphs LOL Very Happy
