As title really, what's the best, quickest, cleanest way to remove all the sound deadening???
Invluding the tarry residue left behind?
Is it a matter of hammer, chisel and turps?

Do you have a compressor ? ....if so a needle scaler ...look it up on youtube .... if not like you say hammer chisel .... and also ive used grinder attachments like wire wheel and a course sanding disc to get rid of the residue lot quicker than  turps depends on if your going to respray or not ....

The plan is a full shell restore and spray so a few scratches won't be a problem ;-)
I think I've heard of that, looks weird a bit like Edward scissor hands?

Needle scalers are also good for getting rust in tight spaces you cant get into with a grinder .
