2 screws mate one either side use a small socket set with phillips attachment??? and undo them by hand, you wont get a socket wrench in use your fingers to unscrew and bingo the vents will come away from the dash

Leave the cable attached to the centre vents and unclip it off the heater. Then just remove whole surround with cable still attached

As above, take it off at the heater and pull it out. I usually pull a bit of string through with it and leave it in place to make it easier to thread it back in again afterwards.

Thread revival here.

Can anyone tell me which way this cable is routed? I can't for the life of me find a route to bring it up to the vents and attach back onto its hook.

Look from the bottom, beside the lower end of cable up through the dash. If you offer up the dash youll see a route up behind the stereo to where the vent is. Its probably easier to connect it to the vent first and slowly lower the dash down while routing the cable downwards. Its not easy to explain but if you feed the cable down, not up it should be easier. Good luck!

Thanks Mike, so it goes behind the Setreo, so it should be left of the Dash frame (on this picture it is to the right of the metal frame)
Does it go behind the boost gauge and come out from over the top?
I will try again monday evening.

I need to reinstall those cables on my car, no idea how I’m going to figure out they go back together. Years since I removed them

Its difficult to explain but once you offer the surround (with cable attached) onto the car you'll see from underneath where it needs to go. There's really only one clear path for it so you should manage it ok.
FWIW if I ever have to remove that surround I also remove the kick panel under the steering wheel and disconnect the cable from the bottom end. Never had any issues feeding the cable back in doing it this way. Lower the surround down slowly and with your other hand, route the cable down Smile
From memory I think it goes over the top of the centre gauges and down behind the stereo...

Thanks, I will try this. The only issue i can see is that the cable may have lost its shape from being bent up in behind the dash for so long.
