carefull if you knock it out if any of the paint like surface comes off on inside of sump as once it starts to flake off even if you clean it later more can come off and can block oil ways

The RB is the basic model with mainly transmission uprated parts like lsd diffs and short ratio gearbox.
You don't get electric windows or mirrors.
They were meant for privateer rally drivers.
Basic interior because it was supposed to be stripped out.
Some say the glass is lighter but I haven't seen any proof.

Thanks, for all! Yep there is not many model like this, especially LHD ones. I'm still unsure about the diff and the box as i didn't test drive it for the moment, and not lift the rear up too...

What i was planning to do in the week was gutted because of the rain, my job and my girflriend...:O
Yesterday evening i reach to get the battery off to charge it! (good beginning!)
I ordered many things too, to tidy it up :
Comp mo 17"
Strut brace
Bits inside and a full carpet in good condition
mongoose Downpipe
I already got à full mongoose 2,5" exhaust with silences decat....
Sparkplugs, oil...
But troubleshooting is the first thing to do, so...i will see by the weekend, i hope to have the time to look at all.

I have some news about the model, a lad who have a french GTiR told me that the model i have is only a Rally "cosmetic" version, they don't have any lsd or short gearbox on them...but no matter, i have a R, it doesn't matter!!!

about my troubleshooting, i had no time this weekend, again...i sold many mini parts i need to dispatch now, and i can't work on the car at the moment, i hope to take the engine comp by the end of the week.

i received the sparkplug, BCR8ES as Bob advise me to order.

Well boys (and girls if Clare or someone else is commin' here!), i'm quite happy today !!!

Very Happy

In the morning i find some time to sort out this starting up problem! and now, it's sorted out!!!!!!!!

first of all, the fuel filter was missing, a blanking plug was missing on the last throttle body, and there was a fuel leak on the fuel pipe.

I changed the sparkplugs with the BCR8ES bought last week, but before, i tested the engine health with a compression testing...10 - 10 - 10 - 7.
the 7 cylinder is the 4th one (opposite to the timing chain).

once sparkplugs changed and some drops of fuel on each one, tuuuuututututututututtuut Vrouuuuuum!!!!

steady idle at 1100rpm and than drop to 900rpm...i cut all after.

Before taking it for a little ride, i just tested the 1st motion and the rear motion (had to put it)
clutch is far away, so i believe there will be an issue with it, fork, disc, mechanism, or cylinders....

After all, i put my custom carbon fiber blanking plates (like bob on this GTR!!!)

here some pictures of the work.

i noticed there was a HKS oil filter...lol
French Rally Sunny GTiR - Page 3 2013-010

the little blanking plug missing i replaced by what i have Laughing
French Rally Sunny GTiR - Page 3 2013-011

fuel filter (don't worry the plastic collar is just here to avoid the fuel filter going off is location)
French Rally Sunny GTiR - Page 3 2013-012

i have noticed a little pipe is open on the turbo solenoid...is this normal?? or may i need to blank it off?
French Rally Sunny GTiR - Page 3 2013-013

There is a big oil leak on the gearbox....i'm afraid of this one, and i would prefer to re-fill it before taking the car for a ride....

do you see the cutted wires? what is it? what kind of thing is missing? Neutral

so, just made a little search on the modifiers's and i have the answer about the solenoid, it must be at the atmosphere, so no trouble. Smile
(I don't know why but i can't see any pictures on the sticky section....really annoying...)

Thats the reverse light switch. It should connect to the loom on top of the gearbox.

yes cut wires are reverse light as said fred.

the other side of boost solenoid should go to a vacuum take off point on the induction / intake pipe or your afm will not be regulating fuelling correctly as will be drawing in excess air past afm, however if the take off point on induction pipe is blanked off then that will be fine

looks very nice fred but the compression reading isn't so good, maybe just a sticky ring on that cylinder but could be a cracked ringland also

thanks Bob! i'll take a look of the take off point on the induction pipe....

is someone have a picture of it to locate it easily?...i'll blank it off if it remains open.

about the compression, i'll try to drive a little and take a new compression test then...

If it stays like that, i'll change the engine by a better one.

Does the driveshaft seal easy to replace? how long does it takes to pop of this? any special tools needed?

I've bought oil for the gearbox to re-fill it...

Well guys, i found the vac pipe to plug on the solenoid! fine, thanks bobby Very Happy

yesterday i received my new brake set up, i opened the packet this evening and what a scrappy rusty thing...not so happy...

so 310mm hi spec set up with alloy bowls bolted to discs, 4 pots billet calipers, green stuff pads and braided hoses...at 360 pounds delivered in France, so quite a good deal (i thought)
but,
- discs are worn and rusty
- pads are worn (1 is 1mm left)
- bowls are quite good but corrosion behind
- all bolts and nuts are totally rotten between the disc and the bowls
- bolts to attached the alloy adaptor on the swivel hub are worn
- alloy adaptor corroded (i don't know if the are still possible to sandblast them and anodised back...)
- calipers ard red painded on the face but seems to be in good condition
- retaining pins which retains pad are dead ( 2 ok, but to other stich to the calipers, impossible to take the 2 last pin off without extract them...)
- braided hoses are totally rotten....

i hope to get a quote from hispec to rebuild them correctly....
