After speaking with him found that he has done a few of these heads before. Said what spec its gonna be running and that i want it for fast road with the intention of the odd trackday, so hes gonna carry out:

Crack test and chemical clean
Inspect valve guides etc for wear
skim head by 4thou/0.1mm
polish & tidy combustion chambers
port/polish exhaust side
remove any excess casting marks on inlet
lap valves in with 3 angle seats

This is what we went over but i have left the final outcome with him, so we shall see...

It may sound silly but i dont know the exact cost, i said to him 'how much am i looking for all this, £700?' and he was like 'no nowhere near that much!' so im presuming around the £500 mark? When he calls me over the next week ill try and get a better idea and let you know.

Right things are starting to take place now with the R, picking the head up tomorrow and car is booked in with Bob. Gonna be tight getting it sorted, taxed and mot'd before the sprintday but i cant miss this day!!
Bob, went on sumopower's website and they only have 87mm, will this be ok as you know im using the 87mm je pistons? Measured my head gasket @ 1.83mm so should i go for the 1.5mm as discussed?

yes 87mm will be fine pete, I would go for the 1.5mm as 1.1 may be too higher ratio with 87mm pistons. and skimmed head.
best to play on the safe side as don't want to risk head lifting if you crank up the boost

Yeah that way with the 1.5mm i should be ok to run a 2871 if i ever want a bit more power later in life. Ill get it ordered, cheers.

It set me back £640 which i like to think is worth it/money well spent. For my money i got:

Chemically cleaned & crack tested
Skimmed; took 7thou off
Valves ground & 3 angle seats
Replacement stem seals
Combustion chambers matched
Port work & casting marks removed
Chokes opened slightly

Think thats it...

The proof for me will be when i drive it and when i get it remapped. I plan on getting a run on the dyno before it gets mapped to see how much of an increase the headwork and exhaust has made.
