Well had some time for the old girl this weekend, so sorted the headlight fault I gained a few weeks ago. Found the earth had fried on drivers side so got two new bulb connections. Replaced both and cleaned up earth cluster behind drivers headlight. Couldn't believe under the cluster they hadn't removed the paint!

Cheers Fred, simple job just hate working on wiring this small. I'm used to 4+6 gauge wiring. Hopefully get some decent power out of these lights now with the new contacts and uprated bulbs.

Went out for a run in the R last night and what a difference to the clarity of the lights, could definitely notice an improvement, should of done this ages ago.

Well got some time for the R yesterday and got both lower arms changed, drivers side wasn't too bad with little play in the ball joint but gaitor was shot. Passenger side however was worse than thought; on removal the bonded rubber fell to bits  reckon these could be the originals?
Also found droplink bushes are knackered but ive got some poly ones to replace them another day along with poly arb bushes and need to replace passenger side rod end as the gaitor has gone on that, luckily I have a spare. Once ive changed these bits its due two new front tyres and a tracking check.
Ive come to realise now that the old girl is gonna need a full repray with repairs to both rear arches and a few other little patches Sad  Need to find a lock up local and do this at some point in 2014, best I start making a list of everything... Rolling Eyes

Not sure, I do wanna take the old girl up the strip again but a trackday has more priority. Ive also got polybushes for the rear arb to fit and thinking of getting a suspension uprgrade; something that's a bit stiffer but not too harsh and doesn't lower the car by much.

Thought as the weather has improved, I would try and do something with the paintwork so it didn't look as bad for the rr day but didn't have much luck. Tried some of that dodo lime juice on the roof where the paintwork is crap and it looks better on the good paint but worse on the other areas. I presume its the laquer that's gone but I know nothing about paintwork. It just confirms that I really need to get a full repsray Sad

As tempting as it is to go dukes of hazard style, I also have both rear arches and a passenger door that requires attention. Ive got a few subtle ideas in mind for the paintwork  Wink

I thought you had a garage fella .... you could rent one for a couple of weeks but most of them are tiny to the point of driving it in and not being able to open the door  Rolling Eyes

Yeah I have a garage but got too much stuff in it and not really wide enough. Looking for a barn or similar, my mate has said if I find one big enough he will go halves as he's got several old Cortina's to do.

Thats pretty cool then .... what size tank does have ..... depending on how much the compresser  can keep up but alot of the hvlp guns require 6cfmn plus .... ive got a lvlp gun wich only pulls 3-4 cfnm  and is meant to reduce overspray ...

Yeah that's the only downside, its only a 2hp 25L as space in the van is a bit of an issue and I couldn't go any more powerful as I wouldn't be able to run it off my vans inverter.

I wouldn't need the water trap as im not planning on spraying it myself, just do the worst of the prep work. I know 2 professionals that im hoping either will do it for a good price.
