A few more bits getting ready for paint today.

Thanks to the help of a couple of guys from the forum the timing is all sorted. A bit of guidence and a few whats app messages and its all good. Well apart from finding what appears to be a heat mark on the cam so im going to need to check the gaps before I go anyfurther. No visible or feelable damage but slight discolouration... indication of it either not getting oiled or one of the gaps isnt right...

The cam lobe issue seems to be down to the spray bar being partly blocked so that has been popped in a bucket of thinners over night, it was checked the following morning and it seems to have cleared so ive left it there for the weekend just to make sure.
After a good chunk of scrubbing cleaning and prep work several parts have been painted and put back on so its starting to look like an engine again.

Not quite sure why they are rotating when uploaded.

Mine uploads do that I just rotate them before I upload ..... still engines looking fresh

Its getting their, im.pleased with it. A lot of work still to do on it and dont even get me started on the shell lol. I intended just to clean it up get it running and drive it for a couple of years its been off the road for those couple of years.

But on a plus side of not driving it I found that blocked spray bar and saved screwing the cam and anything else it may have caused issues with.

Thats another couple of little jobs jobbed, spray bar is all unblocked and back on,


The sump has been nicely straightened out and re painted.
The feela gauges arrived today so im going to just double check the cam to rocker gap to make sure thats all okay.

Good to check those gaps, dont want to wreck the rest of the engine and end up like me lol

Ohhh its been just over a year and how far have I progresed....
Not a lot to be honest.
She is now in dry storage with electrics and so on so I am no longer working on the road side (phew)
Funds have been a little tight last year as I wen self employed and the Mrs wanted the garden doing and a few other bits so parts I need have had to wait but things are making slow progress.

I think thats about all their is to show at this moment in time I need a flywheel (non standard) a new manifold with external wastegate and a few other odds and sods. Then its onto the engine loom to tidy up. Followed by the engine bay.
Oh new radiator and a smaller intercooler as the current one is for my likes is to big.

Looking good so far mate! Keep at it and you'll get her out to play when (if) the fine weather returns

I keep plugging away bit by bit I actually could pit the engine back in but if I can find the pics of the manifold that was on it you will see why I refuse to use the current manifold lol.

So the bad weld is where the external wastegate was pretty much cut into the standard manifold and actually only venting on cyclinders I beleive 2 and 4 followed by.... a 1 and a half inch spacer plate fit between the dam manifold and the head! Yes 35mm it hadnt been matched to the manifold or anything absolite shambles so its not going back on.

I like red and black on cars by far my fav colour. It does need to be broken though or it does start looking like a bruised tomatoe lol.
