Never noticed this yesterday when I took the head off, was to focused on removing the gunk from the blocked water jacket.  Noticed it this morning when I went in the garage and thought wtf Shocked

Can anybody hazzard a guess what this is? If I had a prize to give away then I would if anybody gets this right!  Honestly I haven't placed it there, exactly how I found it!

For anyone whos not seen inside a SR20DET its an oil gallery..

It's something that's hard to get hold of from Nissan these days, probably because they chucked extra ones into the engine when being built Laughing

Unreal! A spare one. Frantically checked the head thinking one had popped off but all there. Just glad it hadnt worked its way through to the turbo oil feed!

Took the oil pan off expecting to see a spare rod or piston Laughing

That's probably been reshimmed at some point & someone dropped one :-S
could be from factory but the gasket silicone don't look factory to me .
between that & blocked water way it lucky nothing suffered.
I'm sure you'll be putting it together to a far better standard thumbsup
finger crossed nothing else wayward crops up ..

When I had it imported in 2004 it only had 34k on the clock, so shouldn't have been shimmed? But yeah some of the gasket silicone doesn't look factory at all, inside oil pan is really clean so hopefully no more gremlins!

Out of interest can the rod nuts be reused and the crank cap bolts? I'm not going for big power, been running 330 for around 8 years, lowering boost to 1 bar so will be less if that makes any difference?

cap bolts can be reused, rods would be best fitted with new arp rod bolts & they less than £60 normally.
