We have a customers car in at the moment which was delivered to us on a low loader for engine rebuild and other work

The car did actually start and drive but the bigend was clearly in a very poor state as the knock was lets say extremely loud so it had been driven like that for some time amazingly enough.

Anyway we pulled the engine and stripped her down to see how bad the damage was and in a nut shell the bearing had spun and partially welded itself to the crank but it went way beyond that Laughing
the welded part had long worn off with the continued use of the car.

Take a look at these photos and measurements then you will see just how badly this had worn.
How on earth it never through a rod through the block, snapped the rod bolts, broke the rod or snapped the crank I really just don't know Shocked
but its a testament to just how strong the parts can be for these little cars.

vertical measurement of the id of rod 53.25
testament to the strength of the sr20 crank 00112

lateral id 57.11mm
testament to the strength of the sr20 crank 00214

The bad rod compared to a good stock rod, note the ovality of the rod by looking at the edges around it where it has been worn away
testament to the strength of the sr20 crank 00513

the spun big end crank journal 45.67
testament to the strength of the sr20 crank 00411

was that badly worn it no longer looked worn lol
testament to the strength of the sr20 crank 00612

And finally to prove this was a stock unground crank heres a measurement from one of the other good journals
testament to the strength of the sr20 crank 00712

Now minus the lesser figure of the rod being 53.25 from the worn crank journal and it gives you a whopping clearance of.............7.42mm Shocked

The worst ive ever actually seen with the car still running lol

Anyway open to offers for this crank and rod which are a true one off rarity so no silly offers please Very Happy
