I spoke to a friend at Nissan he said they do a oil pump refurb kit has any one used this kit or would it be best to use complete new pump ?

Yes a rotor kit can be had from Nissan. You will need to strip yours to see if the oil pump housing is marked if not a rotor kit can be used but a complete new pump is better.

Don't waste your money just buy a new pump because if any fragments of metal have gone through it I guarantee you it will have scored the casing.
Just not worth the gamble to save a few quid

As above I know things cost but is it worth it I had a forged lump and someone rebuilt it few thousand mile later. Oil pressure droped slightly checked everything without stripping engine next thing 60 mph bang turns out oil pump was inspected or rebuilt and it parted inside as someone did not lock tight the screws apart from that engine was as described when bought and got a good few thousand miles before it gave up. Shop around as prices vary and importing is a option just calculate import duty on it and post your findings or Nissan price please

True points Johnny, I seen someone post that a new pump can be brought from USA for £175 deliverd but can't find who from, nissen would be around £300

about 118gbp base price.
If they keep invoice low for import tax reasons it works out real good.
even here buying from usa works out cheaper than getting one sent in from japan which seems stupid !

Sorry to ask another question, chain replacment kits, is there any need to replace the cam gears? Or just do the chain, tensioner and guides?

Unless its thrown a rocker at some stage or engine has seized the chain and drive gear should be fine.
However if you do want a new chain, sprockets, guides and hex bolts I think I have some new ones in stock

Bob I remember speaking to you about starting up and a rattle for 1-2 seconds is that chain tensioner?

No that will be an oil flow issue which could well be the pump or a blockage somewhere, if chain, guides or tensioner is badly worn it wont go away after a couple seconds

It was a minor rattle just on start up, just for a second that's all
