Just been out in the pulsar and the gear change started to get botchy.
Then when pulling up at lights first gear was hard to get in. I had to put it into second and then it would go into first.
While driving the gearstick is moving when i go on the gas and off it.
Pulled up at home and it is hard to get it into any gear now.
I dont think its clutch or slave.
It feels like something has come loose on the gear linkage.
I will have to have a good look tomorrow.

Has anyone else had this happen?

It's only one bolt on the gear linkage though isn't it.....sounds more like a clutch problem...or internally on the gearbox....

It isnt gearbox issues or clutch. I cant get it in gear with engine off unless i jiggle the gearstick and then it will go in gear but notchy.

Well im hoping it isnt a gearbox off job anyways lol

Had the same. Gear selector centre spring. Does the selector spring back to the neutral position from the left & right?

Just had a look James. If i push the stick to the right it pushes back to the centre. If i push it to the left it doesnt. Its sloppy.
Plus after messing about with it just i can get all gears again.

It isnt gearbox lol i only jiggled the gearstick side to side and the gears came back. It has to be selector issue.

probably worth doing the linkage bushes, the return spring & mod the rubber mount bush to solid as makes a huge huge difference & hopefully will cure your problems & make gear change feel like new .
few threads on hear with parts links/numbers .

Just managed to have a look at the gear linkage and the spring and plastic bush are fine.
The problem keeps moving from gears.
I could get all gears to engage then while going through the gears i couldn't get it to engage 1st. Then i could and i couldnt get reverse.
Then i couldnt get 1st. 3rd and 5th to engage. But 2nd. 4th and reverse were okay.
Then i could get all gears to engage again.
And so on and so on.
Very random gear obstruction.
Sometimes the gear wont go in at all and sometimes you have to oush it a little harder and it slips in. Other times it just slips in.

What the feck is going on.

Alignment issue? I've just ordered one of those bushes from ebay as I have a similar issue to you but not quite as bad, sometimes struggle to get in first and reverse most of the time it's fine.

Maybe it is that bush then. It all looked good. Wont hurt to swap that over first. Its the easiest and cheapest option.
Thanks.

I'll have mine fitted by next weekend so I'll let you know if it's any good.

The way I see it, it can't hurt replacing items like that on a 20 year old car.

could be the gear stabiliser arm bolts have come loose or the bush that holds the stabilizer arm to bracket on transferbox

Happened to rich's car at snetterton the other day and had to force the bush back into the holder
