Hi GTI-R
Iv got a fuel leak on my tank!! Its ok half full! Iv had it on the ramp and all the pipes look ok and its not leaking down any pipes.from above. Looked in boot and all looks dry. Have managed to get a second hand fuel tank!! Just wondered if anybody knows where is the best place to get new fuel pipes as I might as well replace for new as iv got the tank out?
Thanks for any help

Yeah usually, I order mine through eBay. From memory we have 2 different size pipes from factory (believe it's 6mm for most and 7mm to breather/reserve part of tank) although sure someone can confirm

Do you mean the metal pipes Tom or the rubber hoses at the ends?Every motor factors should have the rubber hoses, the metal pipes- Pirtek or similar.

Yup any motor factors or halfords will do the fuel hose, the main ones will be 8mm bore and so will some of the breathers and transfer hoses on top of the tank, but some of them are 6mm bore, you may find that it's one of those that have perished and causing the leak as most likely original and 20+ years old now, so it's worth doing the lot whilst the tank is out as it's not expensive to buy, iirc there is one hose on the right hand side that is 6mm bore one end and 8mm bore the other just to be aware of mate.

I came across the 6mm to 8mm rubber pipe yesterday, I ended up using 8mm pipe and tightening it down loads.  Will this be safe to do?

It's the pipe that loops back on its self, the white plastic bit is 6mm the metal pipe is 8mm.

I was going to make a new loop out of left over 6mm pipe, but unsure if this will restrict anything?

As long as it is tight and won't leak then it will be OK, alternatively you could use some 6mm bore hour, warm up one end of it in boiling water and stretch it to 8mm appropriately as that will also work mate.
