From what I know its a forged engine - Up-ratted turbo currently running 1.2Bar (it was running 1.4 but we took the bleed valve off and the actuator running 1.2 on its own) The exhause is mad popping and banging like a group A rally car...plenty of flames spitting out too.
I'm the 1st to say I'm not very technically hands on - I enjoy the driving! But I plan to learn as I go on this beast! (Best way)
Its as raw as it gets - but still has a fully interior, no radio or air con...just what I need gauge wise Inc. Boost, Rev count and Turbo timer.
Its front mounted intercooler - the whole car has been done well...and in seroiusly good condition for 25yrs.
I think the only thing I really want to do asap is replace the coolant tank which has seen better day and has changed shape with heat and been squeezed into the engine bay with the work done....no leaks but just to make it look better!
Other than that I just plan on tiding her up this year - arch work, wheel work, interior work...So I can get the full enjoyment out of her.
Then next year might look at some engine work with Bob...play it a bit by ear really:o)
Keep me in the loop at what coming up as I plan to show up to which ever events I can - put faces to names!
Cheers
Daniel

welcome aboard mate, good name Wink

same here mate, I just drive them, someone else can get dirty and struggle with it !!! but as you say you do pick up knowledge, especially on here from a great bunch of lads, always helpful.

Johnny is right though, I never drove it or anything but was always drawn over to it when I popped in, nice little motor there. see you at the rolling rd

Awesome mate, you sound pretty enthusiastic it's good to see thumbsup learning as you go is the best way, just make sure if you're not sure about something to ask. So many times I've regretted not asking someone and it's cost me time and money.

Hiya Dan glad your loving the car, please remember to just short shift her though for time being until we check the fuelling.

Had Mike from Dyno developments down with us today sorting the few niggly issues we had with Dyno / afr's

Now all sorted and ready, so will get you in one day next week (if you can) and make sure she's fuelling ok as got a feeling she's running lean at present

Shifting at 3000-3500rpm keeps the boost from flicking over 1bar - so got pretty good at the short shift even with this clutch! What ever it is its pretty brutal.
Filled her up on Sunday - looks like I could squeeze 200miles to a tank driving soft like I am.
I'm free most weekends - looking forward to seeing what she can do once happy with the setup.

Enjoy the car just don't be doing 87mph in a 30mph zone. Your car is famous for doing it

What should I be topping the coolant tank up with short term if I need to 50/50 water and anti freeze or a particular coolant?

last point - Which oil is best for them?

Though it best to get the simple things right!!

Thanks
Daniel

wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this question too, regarding the coolant. Where you from Dan?

I'm near Milton Keynes Surprised)

To quote Bob:
coolant I would suggest using around 20% a-freeze so around 2ltr and use 10w/40 synthetic if just for road use but if you ever venture on track with her then a 10w/50 would be a better choice as retains a higher viscosity under harsh use when temps can rise so less chance of doing a bearing in that way.

Anti freeze should always be 50/50 unless you live in a very cold climate. Anti freeze not only stops your coolant mixture freezing it also helps keep it cool Wink
Yeah road use 10w40 is ok, that's what I used to run for years without an issue.
What type of coolant I couldn't specify, I have always used what I get from work which is blue.

Think you may have mis-heard Bob with regard to the anti-freeze, unless he comes on here and says im wrong Smile
