That's it, I'm done with chasing power! The mapper got back to me today to say the car has only made a poxy 2bhp more! It has however made 20 ft/lb of torque! So it sits at 407bhp! Not the 450 + I was expecting! The anti lag is now up and running! I can't think of what can be holding it back?! Iv a 3071 so that's good for up to 470! 700cc injectors! 3 inch inlet, 3 inch exhaust! Ported manifold ( bob said he ran 460ish on a cast ported mani) so what the hells stopping it?!?! Any ideas??

He did say because of where he maps the car all the doors have to be shut due to sound as there are houses around, he couldn't get the extractor on the exhaust because of where it now exits and said that it was very hot in there! But surely this wont cause this much loss???

Hi Pete, don't give up im sure you will get there. When I had that car remapped at Fusion motorsport it was one of the most humid days of the year was extremely hot and humid and at Surrey RR it still made 360bhp back up from around 330bhp so didn't effect it heavily although I am sure out on the road it was making more. I am no mapper so I have no idea but wouldn't have thought it would strip you of 40+bhp

is it a genuine 3071 and not a copy? it should easily make more than that. did the guy give you a reason? my old one made 430 ish at 1.5 bar and it wasn't finished as there was a problem so could have made more

No I have no problems with how he's mapped it, he's always done a very good job and I trust him, and so does every one of my friends who uses him, id recommend him to any one! It's just like something's restricting it?!

A few HP would be lost if your chargecooler temps were high, if it was really that hot in there even with a fan blowing from the front may not have enough effect. You need to get your intercooler out temps down to 40-50°C difficult to do if the air blowing over it is similar, especially when the intercooler in temps will be around 160°C. So you may find that it produces more HP on the open road, but difficult to measure.

I didnt mean he was untrustworthy or anything im sure hes a good mapper ...i just wonder how people with similar mods have hit bigger figures what boost level was that at ??? Maybe the graphs will tell you wether it tails of suddenly or something ...

I'm not sure what boost that was at, I'll find out more tomorrow, having cooler intake temps will of course help, but that's a lot down from what I expected!

Just thinking its probably a combination of things, cooler temps are just one. But there must be a main culprit which is restricting power.
Some info on some graphs would be nice to see, may give us some clues.

That's no good mate, surely there will be a reason. Also you are exactly right about just enjoying it, it is still one awesome car without hitting the exact HP you were chasing Smile

True woody, but all this time and expense to achieve a certain figure to fall massively short of it! It's still bloody fast though, no doubt even faster now when I go and pick it up, and with anti lag Wink

I had hks 264s and a custom manifold. Will defo help if we can see the graphs and how much boost.
Intake temps shouldn't make a great deal of difference, not to that extent anyway!
Could be something as simple as a boost leak or timing being out, I'm sure if he's any good he would of checked that?

pete that turbo will never make 470bhp with the smaller housing (which greggs turbo was)
couple that with 700cc injectors which with raised fuel pressure would not make 470 let alone with stock regulator.

my old track car had the larger housing with 4'' intake plus some pretty wild cams and was also running aquamist to keep intake temps at bay.
matt at trl mapped her on an apexi pfc and was fookin awesome but used to eat gearboxes lol

thing is if you don't mind me saying..........maybe your getting too caught up in the bhp stuff when at the end of the day its more about the drivability of the car through the rev range, if that has improved and minimal lag with good throttle response then I would sacrifice that any day over just having a big bhp readout but shit drivability. the lower powered car mapped well will be quicker round a circuit than one with big figures but poorly mapped.

wil be interesting as were mapping a car this week (probably tomorrow night) which has the same turbo and 700cc injectors on a apexi pfc, only difference being its running a charge cooler as opposed to air to air ic
il put the printout up before weekend but don't think it will make any more than around 420hp if im honest so that will give you an idea
but will have one of the best guys in Europe mapping her so sure he will get whatever he can from her without putting the engine at risk

Pete did not realise you were on smaller housing mate it's probably best at that bhp

didn't realise it had the small housing. so what boost was that at and also what dyno are they using?

some dynos can vary a lot.

dyno dynamics showed my car at 400 at one stage and then at the rolling road day in Milton Keynes a while back there maha rollers only showed 360 or 380

I'm pretty sure it's the larger housing?! I'll double check! Bob you're probably right, it goes like shit off a shovel now any way! It's very responsive, and pulls like a train! I was chasing figures I admit, but I enjoyed it so why not lol, but for now I'm done with it! I'll try and remember to get a pic up of the dyno graph tonight! But it's still at 1.85 bar of boost at that power so it's like something is still restricting it?!?!

yes that's a lot of boost for 400bhp

I would say your engine timings out or you have other knock related issues that are pulling timing back mid range to topend

somethings definitely not right for sure
what base timing is he running and what does it increase to when coming on boost?
