thats interesting, mine seemed like the termostat was sticking as only occassion heat spike which happened on twice this week, stopping the car and squeezing the hose sorted the issue, i think it will come back though so ill get the thermostat changed for a blueprint one

Worth doing a ecu fault code check & reset then see if any codes return if get issues again.
Does your car seem extra heavy on fuel at times ? do you get any difference in running/power before the cutting out & possible overheating ?...
With coolant loss double check for sneaky leaks from likes of water pump & rear engine coolant hoses etc.
Hopefully all linked to minor problems ....

only thing i noticed was a puddle underneath my car in the car park, this was a while ago, around where my bottom hose is, i ignored it lol suicide hopefully its just a hose and not my actual radiator. power sometimes does feel more like an n/a car than a turbo the boost just sometimes isnt there, a few nights ago prior to this though i took it for a blast against an r32 golf and it was rapid however ive not even been on boost since it first started overheating as ive just been constantly watching the temp gauge, and it used substantially less fuel than usual. £20 usually does me 2 work trips, this week £20 has done 3 trips, no change in running it just cutout with no such warning, put the clutch in and revs just dropped all the way

i boosted it tonight to see if there was a loss of power and no it was quick and boosted normally

It would still go into limp mode with a Apexi AVCR thats just the boost controller. Maybe try seeing if you have any codes showing?

ah ok i thought limp mode was the boost restricted to 0.5 bar :/ happened to me a couple of times where the boost was put down to 0.5 and the car run pretty shit, reset ecu and it was fine again

i did the ecu reset as well but came back running poor quite quickly.. coolant temp sensor is cheap so would change that... check the thermstat by dropping into hot water as close to opening temp. may not need to change that... i run a revotec fan controllor in the long hose off the radiator much more reliable.

coolant sensor could be possible & also tie the heating & cutting out faults together.
checking fault codes is a must.
defo check you thermostat & it fitted correct. if randomly sticky it not going always show with hot water test, if you got a cheap no brand thermostat I would get a decent one as cheap & rules it out of debate.
