hi all, ive had this rear end noise for a couple of weeks and the first thing i tried was to drain diff oil and fill with new, its still there though!! have you guys had this problem? thanks for any info Smile

What kind of noise ?? Like a drone noise could be wheel bearing .... have you jacked the back end up and had a check ???

thank you i will check wheel bearings, the noise is as if somethings running dry. if it is a wheel bearing would it be easier to change the hub. thanks

Not hard or expensive to change just a wheel bearing, you can get bearings for £26 from ICP, any decent bearing shop or decent motor-factors.
If you got spare hub then no harm but I would do bearing itself over buying a used hub.
You should be able identify wheel bearing when driving by noise matching with road speed, also jerking the car left to right will load/unload the bearings sometimes eliminating/changing noise helping diagnosis .

Could it also be the brake binding are the discs rusty or anything just thinking of other options ...

good point i did change one caliper i got from bob so could be other side!! cheers

Yeah possible brake binding or rear bearing on its way out as said above.
If you want to change the hub we have lots of rears with good non graunchy bearings but you need to locate the prob first as said

first thing are check the bearings and if it is them will just buy replacment hubs from you guys!! also check brake binding again may just change caliper on other side. you said had some hubs? how much and a caliper os thanks.

Check that the rear tyres are not going out of shape (egg shaped) also as when they do it can sound like a wheel bearing on the way out Wink
