Only thing I would say is a spanner with a deep neck as one of the bolts for the ac brackets are counter sunk

Think that was the one i struggled with abit up behind the turbo ???

so where are all the bolts to get the whole thing off, ive got the intercooler hoses and rad hoses off just now but i can only see 2 bolts which are connected to a bracket holding the alternator. damn there aint much space to do this

Wich one sye the actual ac bracket ... think there is either 3 or 4 there is one up near the turbo .... iirc there is two 10mm bolts at the bottom pulley side ... it was a few years back now ....

Will try and find some pics for you but need to raise the car and attach it from underneath

yeah someone said it can be done without touching the ac unit, but i got some progress and know where the bolts are, i just have the 3 to remove behind the alternator (1 on top, 2 on bottom)

I tried for hours and just couldn't get the long bolt out to free the alternator so had to remove the bracket as well, so no idea how theyve done it

yeah they left the bolt in and moved the alternator to remove the 3 bolts at the back and lift altenator out, but seems like there will e some swearing when i have to get the bracket removed from the block

Trust me on this........you will need to drop the ac pump out the way you will not be able to remove it otherwise unless you remove the ex manifold, once that's lowered it will come out with the cast bracket attached

ok so how do i get the ac pump out?

How i did mine wich was the only way i could get it out was take off ac pump push it up out the way so you can get to the bolts for the ac bracket now pull bracket out the way you can then drop the pump out then its a squeeze to get the ac bracket took me about an hour iirc ...

does anyone have access to a how to remove the aircon pump? seen one on gtiroc but dont have access to it would just like to know where all the bolts etc are and a process as im pretty clueless about cars.

Have you done it Sye? ive got my AC off so i could take a pic to give you a better idea of where the bolts are etc

Not done it yet weather been pretty bad and waiting for parts, hopefully saturday ill get it done, thanks guys the pics etc make it look a bit easier

Well got it all sorted and its alive, thanks to bob for the alternator and the advice from everyone here, couldnt have done it without you lot what a pain the aircon system is, if that wasnt in it would have taken me 30mins to do the job
