Hi, new to this. Looking for some help. Iv just bought a pulsar with high idle. Started with checking the vacume pipes. Found one of the blanks used to balance the throttle bodies was split. Also another pipe was of at the front and the pipe from the carbon canister to inlet had split. All of which have now been sorted but still no joy. Going to remove the tps tomorrow and give it a clean. It idles about 1300-1700rpm. Any ideas as I know it's a common fault. The car also needs welding at the rear and new front wings but until I get it running right I'm not going to start on the body. Any help please.

Thank you, the car itself runs and drives perfect. All bar the high idle. I'm no mechanic but am more than happy to give things a go. Id like to get to know my way around the pulsar as I'd like to keep it for a while. The plan is to respray once running correct. The guy I bought it from had owned it for 12 years. And spent a small fortune in it. It's running 256bhp. Not sure what has been done to it and neither was the pervious owner as he bought it like this.

Question. The pipe from carbon canister to inlet is now back on, and as stated makes no difference. Iv disconnected it while the car is running from the canister end and obviously dosent change anything. But what is this pipe supposed to do as it dosent seems to have any suction, nor is it blowing. Also I saw somewhere about disconnecting the tps which the car is running and if it's faulty the revs should drop down. Now I can't get to the tps with the engine running due to the intercooler so can I run it upto temp. Turn it off. Disconect tps then start engine. Cheers

Thanks, I can't seem to be able to open the picture. Not sure if it's my phone. I'll have a go once I get home. But it's the pipe that's on top of the canister. There are three pipes,2 larger ones and the small one on top. It's the small one I'm talking about.

Is there a way of posting pics on this page

Iv also found a pipe just under where the throttle cable connect. It goes to nothing. It goes from throttle body to throttle body from passenger side to drivers side then just stops. Iv put my finger on the end of it and again no vacuum nor blowing.

Thank you very much, appreciate the help. Don't really want to chuck money getting someone to fix it. Iv got my mate coming round Thursday he's a mechanic and has had a gtir befor. So even if your info don't help me it may well put him in the right direction.

Thanks for that. The pipe under the throttle cable dosent have anything on it then. It looks very much like it should lead to somewhere. I just need to make sure my pipes are all ok and in the right place then I can start checking sensors. Does anybody know how to check to see if the tps is working correctly and also the avac sensor ( think that's what it called on the back of plenum)

You need to go over every pipe make sure there is no cracks or splits .... maybe try get some pics of the vac box behind the engine to make sure all the pipes are on etc ...

Cheers, just checked pipes. All seem ok. Done the beer tin trick in the intercooler pipe. Took another vacuum pipe of and blew down it. Seems airtight. Sprayed carb cleaner around the pipes while running. No change at all. Disconnected tpc with car running no change. Disconnected lambda still no change. This may sound stupid but when the car is running there don't seem to be vacuum in the pipes.
