I lost the back end lastnight in the R going round a corner at 40mph OFF boost, just crusing & road was dry. Also noticed over the last few days, when im turning in to a junction at low speed I can feel the rear wheels skipping/jumping  Rolling Eyes  & also car has started to feel very unstable threw corners.

There is no noise or wining coming from rear diff but with the above symptoms it obviously points to rear diff!

Could it just be low on oil or is it fubard? As its good Friday im stuck as no1 is open with ramps to check oil... Bloody typical this before Saturday  Mad

mmmmh you are not lucky with your car since the box has been killed...
maybe it can come from the viscous diff too...

Jack up the back & inspect the diff, perhaps even remove prop & turn diff on the input flange. Also draining oil & checking for debris could help conclude issue.

Always look as no point assuming stuff & always best know fault & severity.
Driving it with a bad diff if indeed that the fault ain't smart, could cause accident or other drive line failures.

doubt its the rear diff
more likely the transfer box

jack it up and see if rear wheels are turning in opposite directions (unless its plated of course) if they are and you can feel resistance then its more than likely the front diff that's knackered

So if all my wheels were off the ground and i turned my prop by hand and my back wheels span the same way that would mean my diff is non standard

My rear wheels span the same way, dropped the oil & it was like treacle black as the ace of spades, Not been changed in a long time... Had a look threw the drain hole whilst tunrnig wheels & no sign of damage but quite worn... Changed the oil so ill see what its like now!

You have a look around suspension, hubs, prop, front diff for faults.

Yep looked around hubs & suspension & couldn't see an issue, Cant realy check front diff without pulling shafts out & removing casing, so ill check that next weekend Smile
