I need a little advice plumbing In my HKS boost controller.

First question, am I right in assuming I don't need the restrictor or pipe when using the HKS boost controller?

Secondly I need a vacuum source for the controller, where is best to get a vacuum source from? I don't want to T it to the fuel pressure regulator so where else should I T it to?

No you don't need a restrict or pipe just normal vac lines

Take the controller from the large port on rh side of plenum direct to control solenoid then direct to actuator on tubby
Make sure the solenoid is plumbed in correct way round though or it won't work properly

It has 3 ports bob one one goes from the plenum and the other to the actuator as said but the 3rd is just for a normal vacuum source so the device can monitor vacuum.

Where should I T the 3rd vacuum source from? I don't want to use the FPR vacuum because it already has my boost gauges T'd to it.

Ah right tee off one of the other vacuum sources then such as one to carbon canister, there's a few to choose from or you could take one from dv or throttle bodies

Is the carbon canister one fine to use?
I'll just use that if it is. I just wanted to ask first because I wasnt sure

I might run the blow of valve using the four little ports on the throttle bodies then run all my boost gauges and boost controller from the original vacuum source for the blow of valve and that way I can keep the FPR on its own vaccumm source.

Would that be ok?

Been looking into a lot of vacuum hosing and boost controls recently, so I have learnt a bit

which  controller do you have evc6?5?

get rid of the restrictor plumb it direct

Did you buy second hand or brand-new? Do you have all the fittings Find  the original manual online will tell you exactly how to plumb it.

Recently read The evc6 manual. For my friend.  And you have three ports.  Ones is normal vacumn second goes to actuator. 3rd off a pressure source to give your throtlle readings i believe.....

Let me know when you set it up that's a bit of a b***ch too  need to offset your gain and boost settings

It's a HKS EVC EZ so it's nice and easy to set up, I have the installation instructions so I know which port goes to where. I'm just trying to figure out where is bet to get the vacuum source from for the 3rd port.

It came with the car and I know it works because I have connected it up before but removed it when I had a problem and was trying to eliminate any possible vac leaks so I removed all unnecessary items.

I want to connect it up again but last time I Tee'd it my stock boost gauge but I have now realised that is teed my after market boost gauge and to the fuel pressure regulator so probably best I find another vac source for it. Don't want to run everything off the fuel pressure reg

That's what I did last time but that connects up to the fuel pressure regulator which would probably work ok but it's not a good idea to use the same vac line as the fuel pressure regulator.

I'll take some pics in the morning so you guys can see what my dilemma is

As it is at the mo I have the boost sensor for stock gauge and an aftermarket gauge Tee'd to the fuel pressure reg and I don't want to tee anything else onto that line if that makes sense?

gauges are fine to tee in to the fpr as they wont draw vacuum away so it will work fine

the only thing I wouldn't plumb to fpr would be a bov as that could affect the variable pressure rate

I'll just connect it up with the gauges then, its easier that way. I've got my AFR gauge so if any things a miss I will spot it

Well after all that the boost controller is no good Sad its loosing vacuum when connected up so the solenoid must be fecked  Evil or Very Mad

So my next question is what would you recommend for running 1 bar, the "1 bar loop" or a manual boost controller? I have a manual boost controller lying around not doing anything so I can do it either way but which way is best?

Oh and should I use the restrictor pipe with manual boost controller?

Well so much for the 1 bar loop... I must of done it wrong because it just shot up to well over a bar!

I'll just go with the manual boost controller. Hopefully I will have better luck this time

I think that's why the 1 bar loop failed, I ruined the T piece cramming the pipes on.

After a lot of fiddling with my manual boost controller and wasting a lot of petrol in the process I have got it to spike at about 0.9 - 1 bar and then it drops back of to about 0.8 and I can't be bothered to mess with it anymore lol

Poor thing had the boosting of a lifetime trying to set this boost up Laughing
