New paint protection

What's the best way to avoid damaging new paint and avoiding all those little surface scratches you get on black paint. My cars been painted in base and laqure if that helps

Just ordered the diamondbrite stage 1 and 2 off eBay . Don't know how good it is so I will give it ago and report back. God I have enough polish etc in my garage to open a shop lol

I would hold up see what ajay or indy say as they are professional detailers so their opinion is probably the right one ...especially with proper fresh paint last thing you want to do is scratch the shit out of it with a certain polish ...i know i read you cant put a cover over the car etc ... so better be safe than sorry fella .

use some of this stuff mate especially on black paint chemical guys black light, it seals the paint work but maybe wait a bit till you put it on for the paint to harden etc

i heard that car covers can cause the little spidering in the paintwork, even expensive covers but ive never seen it myself

Hi bones great to hear guys out there getting resprays ect to keep the r's alive in response to ur query and the great advice nomad gave DO NOT put a cover on the car at all for at least 6 weeks or more due to the poor weather we are having as the top coat will be very soft and would not have fully cured although u may think u are protecting the paint work by covering it u will infact be causing swirl marks ect and causing damage LEAVE it alone avoide washing if possible for 1 - 2 months and more although this sounds insane u have to trust me on this with the mitt and harsh shampoos you will again cause damage once the top coat ( clear coat) is fully cures it will become very hard and then the washing process can begin 1 by de greasing 2 claying 3 washing ect wipe down 3 polishing with a specialist (very very light polish) and a very very very light polishing pad and finally protecting the finish with a nano laqure or a past wax then u can put all the covers u like over it. Not to scare u but I want u to have the best possible protection for ur r and the correct process is listed as above I hope this helps u don't worry about sun snow and rain as will help towards the curing process and everything will be polished out once the paint has fully cured best of luck and any other querys are welcomed either toward myself or Ajay

Oh and one other thing I forgot to mention is under no circumstances should u jet wash the new paint work if u get dirt on it just hose it down with a garden hose and no soap or spong or mit

Totally agree with the above as Indy mentioned,just to speak if tree sap or bird droppings appear on the paint wash this down immediately as this will just eat into your top coat within days especially on a new painted car as these susbstances contain acids.

Oh lol totally forgot thanks Ajay but make sure u use a very mild ph neutral shampoo and just clean the affected area off avoid 'scrubbing' as much as possible and u will be fine make sure the mitt u use is a clean fresh one keep it aside for the odd clean off here and there until the clear coat is set.

My garage is heated too about 20 degrees so how long will it take to harden off properly? Its 2k paint job

As mentioned it will take 4-8 weeks for it to cure fully u can use the car just avoid washes ect I don't know how long ago the job was done but if the paint work was to get damaged then to remove the swirl marks and marring is quite a long process but not impossible. Hope this help

Car was painted 3 days ago. Nice to know it takes weeks to properly harden though.

Yes it's not common knowledge unfortunately but if (any of u have experimented with nail polish) and I u know who u are lol will realise that it never fully dries until a few days

Cars still sat in heated garage been there about 5 weeks now and it's not back on the road till April so giving it loads of drying time. But it's crazy how much dust just settles on it in an unused garage. Just need to make sure no one goes in as people can't resist writing in it, but so far so good

It's unbelievable how much dust settles when you have the car stood in the garage, my car goes in clean as a whistle then comes out a few weeks later looking like its done the Paris Dakar rally
