got a question for you all to make your little noodles work Laughing so lets see whos clever and can get it right

who knows what the primary purpose of the shim is at the base of the valve springs that sits between spring and the head???

to stop the valve spring wearing its way into the head and changing the compressed spring rate and losing it's tension which in turn causes valve float, you can also use varying thickness to set the valve seat pressure.

Isnt pre loading a variable as in to do with axis , vibration etc is it also to do with seating components or am i looking like a complete cock lol

Ok I'll guess ! Is it to make sure the bearing has no side to side -up down etc so it retains it shape and function with no movement

Its to eliminate (give/play) in radial & axial directions. So it has "Zero" radial clearance when an axial load is applied. If there is any radial clearance, vibration and noise of the balls will occur! geek

I would have never thought how educational this site would be, so what is the main weakness of the stock box? Is it a mixture of the components inside and the over all designi fucking hate this crap samsung galaxy on this site it wont let me see what i type lol

the box does'nt really have issues, for drag racing you need to brace the endcase, change the bearing and fit a straight cut final drive/ gearset, for other motorsports a good gearset and thats all thats needed, i know of a few hillclimb cars and very powerfull road cars that dont have any issue's just with quaife gearsets fitted.

Are the braces generaly designed for the straight cut gearsets rather than the quaife? im still toying with that idea as it will be an investment rather than money wasted

yep that was what i was going to be selling them as, it will help on the standard final drive but it won't stop the problem.
