being stripped I take it ! anything actually wrong with these 2 cars such as tin worm shell or purely stripped as better money that way & no real interest complete as a runner ?

yes the car looks good as far as I can tell but its a non runner at the moment as been standing for some time now, cars also been wrapped so impossible to see what paints like underneath but certainly all looks straight.

neither of these cars came cheap so they will both need to be stripped unfortunately as I know they will not sell (tried before with other big powered cars) and all you get is lots of people saying ''if only i'' lol
phil bracpans car is a testament to this as well as a few really good cars ive tried to sell in the past for much less money than phils asking, after a while you just get fed up with time wasters and have no alternative but to strip them

its a sad fact but people will just not pay that money for the cars

Yeh I can understand them being hard to shift in general but with like of Bracpans & perhaps this latest one you picked up I would of thought they would sell on if real good ... could be wrong though as all theory & no practice on selling R's
On the plus side, your parts sales list will be interesting ...

I remember Gary and that Grey R - i think i got my FMIC off him all those years ago when parts were not so readily available - and ebay had not got going like it is these days.
Also - i met Gary and you Bob at the 1st ever rolling road day the Modifiers Club arranged many moons ago. I seem to recall there was some anticipation to who would run the most power that day with Gary's grey R up there and at the time you had the Black track car Bob with the gold writing all over it. If my memory serves me right you track car had a few problems that day so they didnt run it fully - but i remember that Grey R hitting the 400'ish mark.
That was at Witham - long time ago that !

yeah we used to sell them for 2k but lack of them and demand means price hikes.
good thing is with them is that youll always get your money back if you ever sell the car and remove the box, if anything there an investment assuming they don't break

A new gearbox?

That's pretty ambitious. I suppose you could buy one.

no he said gearset lol

ppg is well expensive, drenth/becker are expensive and replacement parts are difficult to get plus the gears are hard if not impossible to live with for road use
par are ok but quaife are still the daddys I think for all round use and vfm

Andy Chan had a PAR gearset and I'm sure he had no end of trouble and he ws running just shy of 400 bhp.

I can't make my mind up between Par & Quaife, Par sets have a stronger 2nd gear I believe and the gears sit on needle bearings so less drag through the box. I had a Quaife in my last car and that coped fine with over 500 bhp so what to do.

I could just use a braced standard box with uprated selector forks as it's only a road car and wont be more than a maximum of 400 bhp probably less.

But my ethos has always been do it once and do it properly regardless of the cost.
