Rear Diff Questions

does anyone know the part number for the rear oil seal as when looking on the workshop manual on pages 1647=1648 (final drive) it simply has a cross beside it, or if anyone happens to have 2 laying around i'll buy them off you.

Also with the spacer shims it shows 3 plus the o-ring rubber seal, where as mine only has 2 either side, is this an issue or as its adjusting shims you can have either 1-3?

Mark is there any numbers on the seals? i.e 20 35 7 = inside diameter/outside diameter/thickness

Shims set the bearing preload on the diff and the backlash between the crown wheel and pinion....mess with them at your peril! If you have mixed them up you are in the shit.

Nothing has been mixed up Dan, they're still in place just questioning if I should have a third one as the illustrations show or is this just to take up tolerances.

They are there to set tolerances, ignore the manual on amount or size as every diff is differant.

Thanks Dan, will make sure they are not mixed up, you don't know any detail on the oil seal at all?

Just measure the thing or the hole it sits in and the shaft that goes in it....simplez

Finally got round to Tracing these seals down.

Code on the seal is nok ae19041 and the size is 32x52x11

From searches online it appears to be the same seal as used by Subaru on legacy's but can't find any other nissans to confirm

Mark, do you want me to get a price from my supplier? Reckon it would only be a few quid. Think they have nok seals if not whatever they sell I've never had a fault with.
