hiya fella

2nd mark from left on crank pulley is tdc so line that up with pointer on timing cover
ex cam sprocket mark should be sitting at around 1o/c with keyway just past 12o/c, then count 11 face links back to in cam and the 11th face link should be sitting directly above the indent mark on sprocket.

if timed correctly your dizzy will be set approx. in middle of adjuster and it should be running around 20degrees advance if you put a strobe on it
hope that helps

if pistons aren't up on no1 then its obviously not at tdc so get piston at tdc then see where crank pulley marks are........if they are out and not inline with pointer on timing cover then that means timing is out so youll need to redo it so its correct

Silly question but are the pulleys standard. As I know mine had been replaced before I bought the car and is smaller than standard and ed couldn't use to check my timing. Believe mine's from a 200 as standard aux belts are too big

that may well be the fault you had for your alternator then as its being overdriven and more than likely burning out the rectifier / voltage stabilizer Wink

Someone's got a good memory, exactly a year ago that went this weekend. It could well explain it dying, ill add it too the list of things todo when I rip the engine out over winter. Been on the car at least 7 year so another 7 months won't hurt it.

Smaller crank pulley will drive the alternator and water pump slower than standard.
