Affordable digital clamp multimeter

Had one of these for a while as a home workshop & glovebox knockabout, This brand available everywhere including eBay etc. Hong Kong based & china made but useful tool for money if spend bit of time learn what can do with it. They about £18 to £25 pending where you live & your luck,
clamp amp reading useful for see starter draw & alternator output & finding those annoying power drains & checking a new circuit in spec with wire/fuse.
Does all basics too & is auto ranging which you either like or don't.
Has continuity buzzer which good & temp sensor probe which handy if you don't own any other temp probe meter.
It certainly not industrial or pro meter but it a good buy for semi pro diy & easy to use with quite accurate readings.
Certainly useful tool for a R owner with some elec issues & will be big help for little outlay & should last well given little bit of care. Standard supplied leads are not great but can buy better, an electronic set with longer thinner tips are good for car work as thin tips can probe back of plugs easier & if need pierce wires they are sharper. For AC stuff I would get way get way better leads to be safe. Used mine on various stuff from cars, electronics & domestic 240v & done readings well .

Fluke are good but you will pay more and so are TIS for less money.

^ they are better quality & offer better spec protection which good when doing mainly mains elec work. Likes of fluke, tis, amprobe, innova, kyoritsu will all be 3 to 5 times the price for similar measuring spec device. For first multimeter or semi professional use on budget money this meter seems nice buy (happy with mine), measuring range is fine for car work & will help any R owner greatly with elec diagnostic work, construction good enough for basic home mains (would recommend better rated/approved leads), it would struggle for precision electronic testing but even expensive brands do unless specific electronics model. should last well if treated with some respect & comes with case to which will help keep safe/cables etc not lost .

I got a Digitech QM-1562 over 10 years ago, about gbp40 at the time, similar looking too yours but yellow where yours is red, and has been a good tool over that time.
Only issue, one of the son's broke about 2mm of a probe tip, I filed it down to a point, still works perfectly.
They are pretty good units for the price.

I have not seen digitech in thailand but could be another option for people look into, for lower cost ones mastech, spa & the above uni-t are common here, out of mastech & uni-t I found functions & build seemed better on uni-t . Fluke not common here either but the jap kyoritsu is & they decent . I bought a large spa (china) analogue meter here for £4 & even that works ok & still going today, more of an ornament really as just looks nice on desk stand :-)
This lower cost dmm gear is quite durable with good spec these days .

Cool thats a good cheap piece of hardware i will have to purchase. Cheap leads however are abit annoying so best to buy some fluke leads as i've been through a couple of sets of leads then bought some snap on leads.

Power probe is quite good idea & neat package but expensive, cheap alternative is just decent dmm with good hold logging functions & a homebrew fused power/earth lead with 3 position rocker switch & red green led built off of an old cable probe, could put a small lcd voltage display in & switchable piezo speaker on earth too so have basic continuity tester audible function, a dmm with latched option continuity tester is useful on car wiring/plugs for intermittent testing.
Logging function on power probe was thing I liked as always useful if working on own to be able leave meter at work point to go activate switch or wiggle cables tap a relay etc & then come back & review stored reading, I got a kyoritsu dmm with good memory logging, also seen meters now with BT so connect to android phone or tab App that display screen data remotely & has logging & other features, some of those are sensible money (tekpower) .
