Pointless getting rid just to replace with the same thing. although guess he might aswell cut it down to the minimum as that is what the bumper clicks into to hang it

True - we are still to cross the final bridge of getting the bumper back on Surprised)
Have to see what we do with the final pics next week.
All the piping has been done now...a few pics might go up later;o)

Looks good Daniel
only downside is that it has left you zero room if you ever wish to run a larger turbo as you would need to space the manifold from the block by means of spacer plate or wedge but neither would be able to fit in that gap

Tho....its not to say a mad custom manifold can not fit the turbo somewhere slightly madder Laughing

Good news is she is finished and started 1st time today...only bad news is we have found a small blow on the exhaust manifold....nothing major....will get it sorted when I can.
Changed the gasket....but the bolts are rotten....looks like the have been re drilled once before over the years....so planning block out to get them filled then re drill the holes and start fresh.

why you taking the block out to re-drill manifold studs? seems rather drastic scratch

the turbo is a garrett 2871r

Do not for one min think I am putting you down at all it looks great set up and very well done a lot of time and money in this and great to see people puting time effort and money in. It's a genuine question as its someting that interests me. Small turbo big cooler to fill ?

150Project...underway - Page 6 Empty Re: Project...underway 16th October 2015, 8:57 pm

Daniel232006

Good question...We spent a lot of time and effort doing the math...I can quell one myth now...intercooler size and capacity doesn't effect lag and boost like you expect.
On paper this was proven by the guys who built it....I've just got home from a shake down and the math seems sound...boost comes on at 3000rpm and I'm at peak boost by 4000-4500pm...the peak boost is slightly higher than before too at a bar and we haven't touched a thing in that department yet. The system works...I don't fully understand the science behind it and I wont pretend too - But proof in the pudding :O)
