Dont be such a sissy lol .... if i had to give it a difficulty rating out of 10 i would probably give it a 2 .... the spider joint came off really easy .... the worst bit is its a messy job removing all the old grease but plenty of blue rag and a open bag to chuck it in as you go along helps keep it down to minimal ...

I guess if it really stuck, normally tap off well easy when doing off car & have shaft held in vice. I use a soft metal drift held near centre & give it a friendly tap, sometimes moving position 180° & perhaps then 90° can help find a friendly spot . worth having a heavy rag over end to catch it if comes off bit sudden Smile

I guess some can be if crud settle in the c clip groove or splines an issue, sometimes tapping joint backward gently then quick removal tap can help as give um a bit of a run up/moves some crud !
Have a beer and then another try Smile

I used a copper hide mallet angled down slightly to avoid hitting bearings etc then just belted it, one side was harder than the other though?

Yeah one side is harder. I've decided to replace the cv now, so tried belting the crap out of it, obviously nothing works well when you're angry Laughing

I brought one of these. It was awesome to hold the cv in place. Put some pressure on it, and used a cold chisel to hit the cv out, worked perfectly. However the c-clip has broken in pieces. Since im buying a new cv im guessing it comes with a new clip? However the other shafts im not replacing the cv, just the boots. If the clip breaks on them, are the replaceable? My local auto store doesn't have anything like them.

If you just want to replace the outer CV boot, do you have to buy one of these funnels?
I don't have one! Is it just as easy to split the joint?  scratch

Its easier to get one of those funnels mate.
I had never seen one u til the other day.
Was at my mates unit and he was changing a gator and brought that thing out and it blew my mind away haha
They only cost around £6 and it makes the job so much easier and cleaner!

It can be done either way mate ive use a plastic bottle before like a ribena one just remember to turn the boot inside out then slide it on otherwise its the wrong way round .... the only thing i would say with those is it makes the boot loose on the small end once you stretched it .... what side are you doing mate is it gearbox side with tripod joint ???
