Just a quick question, noticed the cars starring getting slightly worse user the last 12 months, get up to 60-70 and you have to hold the steering wheel really firm as it wobbles terribly.

What can cause this to happen?

I've tried to cure the problem by:

Balancing wheels front and back
Swapped wheels front to back
Have fitted new wheel bearings
Car had all new wishbines ball joints etc when restored
Haven't hit any potholes or curbs since on the road?

I'm thinking maybe steering rack?

Any ideas lads

Thanks

Still sounds like a balance issue to me.

I would say it's wheel balancing issue in general ...

Could be duff tyres too, had that in the past. Are you sure the rims arent out of round?

Had it laser aligned at demon tweeks

I was thinking maybe tyres are out of round which happened on my Almera, alloys should be OK as k said haven't hit anything .

Might try new tyres have got toyos at the moment which are quite soft so might get harder falkens or similar see if that makes a difference.

Thanks lads

I had a set of good wheels and tyres mate. When I fitted big brakes and put the 16s on the weights had to be moved more into center of wheels twice they were balanced I front of me. I looked for other problems took it somewhere else he balanced them and they were fine. The first place has balanced many sets for me with no issue. Long winded saying don’t rule out balancing and make sure if stick weights you ain’t lost one.

Keensie

You could swap the fronts for the back wheels see if that helps.

Are you running aftermarket wheels and if so, do you have spigot rings (hub centric rings) installed?

You haven't warped the discs have you? I've done this before and had the same problem, as you've said you've changed everything else but haven't mentioned the discs (the only other rotating part)

Would warped discs only vibrate under braking?

Usually, but why do Miss weighted/buckled wheels only vibrate at certain speeds?
