Got a call from a guy saying his brakes felt weird and the car was making a strange noise ..

This vehicle was still being driven  until I got to it
It was a 2005 landrover  freelander

I've been doing this job for nearly 23 years and I have never seen a brake disc do this before

I've never seen one separated before that's pretty impressive ... must of been making an awful noise ... I've seen them shatter ...

Trouble is there is some cheap parts nowadays on the like of ebay etc and I don't reckon quality is always at the top of the list lol .... it's a bit like drop links and such like I've bought them before because they were cheapest and to be fair you end up replacing them in a short period of time so kinds defeats the object of getting them cheap ....

Exactully that mate I had 4-5 droplinks on my pug 206 bit bullet bought genuine one and it lasted the rest of the time I had the car

can you not turn those discs 'inside out' and get a slotted disc performance upgrade?

I not seen one do that either.
Like pointed out lot of cheap parts these days so you got know the better brand parts and realize some cheaper parts a complete gamble and some obvious junk .
Things like brakes and suspension bushes ball joints and wishbones all need be quality, plenty cheap old and over stock on likes of ebay which the best buys over odd ball chinesium junk
